In the writing classes we host, we find that those who work with an outline get to the finish line not just faster, but also better. When we edit manuscripts, it is often quite clear who used an outline and who didn't. The latter usually has more developmental work to do post the first edit. So, do yourself a favour and start with an outline. It makes a huge difference.

So, you want to write your first book. However, the idea of writing 40,000 words let alone 100,000 is daunting. You've never written anything of the sorts and don't know where to start or whether the idea in your head will work.

Who said you had to start there, though?

You don't have to.

Try starting with a short story and see how you get on from there. Practise makes perfect and the more you write, the better you will get at it. If you haven't written one of those yet, either, read today's blog. It has been created especially for you.
