Any reports of snow ? I’m seeing quite a lot across the midlands, some rain along the east.
What are conditions like where you are this evening ?

Good evening from a warm and cosy Meaneys Weather centre where I have finally managed to escape to and have some time to fill you in on some of the craic that I think will happen over the weekend.
So as you are well aware of by now we have low pressure coming in from the Atlantic tomorrow which isn’t a very deep low at around 990hpa but it will be full of precipitation and some frontal systems which will move in a northeasterly direction initially as rain and sleet across the southwest during early morning but as it edges it’s way through Munster and into counties throughout Leinster it will turn to snow with some significant falls expected see Met Éireann for details of all warnings.

What about the North?? From the feedback I’m getting all day many of you have been feeling a little left out so here’s what might happen.
Temperatures are going to play the big part in the battle tomorrow evening as the precipitation moves into the north crossing into Counties Armagh and Down by teatime temperatures across the country will be between 0C and 2C and whilst there may be some wintry showers up to around 9pm the temperatures look like they will rise slightly maybe up to 5C across the north east which may hold off any snow but as we head into the early hours of Sunday temperatures will begin to fall back and with a strong easterly wind which could bring gusts of up to 40mph the chance of snow falling across north east counties will increase throughout Sunday morning and afternoon. Now this has been very difficult to predict and it’s as of now 9pm on Friday evening still quite a hard one to call which could possibly run into a now cast situation which means conditions won’t become totally accurate to predict until tomorrow afternoon.
It’s going to be a very interesting and busy few days with plenty of difficult weather to come and significant drops in temperature.
Once again have a look at Met Éireanns warnings and be prepared. I will be back with you in the morning. Sponsored by Gullion Ltd Loss Assessors and Surveyors and Mc Coys Bar and Off Licence

⚠️Snow is coming.
It’s looking certain that there will be a considerable snow event this weekend.
A low pressure system will move in from the Atlantic on Saturday morning bringing a lot of rain which will turn wintry as it tracks northeastward during the afternoon and overnight into Sunday morning. Details will become clearer in the next 24 hours but be prepared for conditions to turn very cold and wintry this weekend. A return to school could be interesting on Monday. Good morning. Plenty of rain on the radar this morning which is making its way east before clearing off to the south before lunchtime with a clearance for a time before more rain moves in this evening mostly affecting the southern half of the country. It will be very blustery today with gusts of up to 45mph but thankfully the winds will ease off by tonight. Temperatures will reach a mild 11C. Have a good day. Good evening everyone, I hope you all have had a great Christmas and enjoyed a few days off.

We have a lot of unsettled weather coming over the next few days with low pressure systems moving in from the west bringing some strong winds, rain and possibly some snow.
Snow !! Now I’ve sat on the fence over the past 24 hours and secretly bursting with excitement inside looking at the models and was going to post something but my gut said otherwise as I’ve been let down before and looking at the model runs this evening it’s showing a downgrade but…. Don’t give up hope just yet because on one hand we have a model run showing a good dump of snow and the other showing it moving away to the south but as usual with this type of battle between cold and mild this could change so we have to wait until at least the morning before anything can be more apparent.

But be advised we will have some strong winds on Tuesday and Wednesday, keep that in mind if you are planning to have a fireworks display. And more importantly we are going to see temperatures drop considerably from Wednesday right through into next week with daytime temperatures struggling to get beyond freezing and well into the minus overnight. Sharp to severe frosts are expected during the latter part of this week with possible drops of -7C. Looking ahead past the weekend into next week there are some signs of a cold blast from the east and I’ll just leave that one there…it’s a maybe. So be prepared for a stormy couple of days and as we transition into the new year it’s going to turn very cold.
Snow watch is on hold for the moment.
