Well, we are business that specialises in Cinematic film and photography. We’ve been creating films and taking snaps under the name of Glass House Productions for over two years now.
Here’s what some nice man had to say about us on our website (we did pay him take it with a pinch of salt if you know what I’m sayin)
The team at Glass House Productions has a serious passion for cinematography. We are a close-knit team of professionals who believe attention to detail is the key to creating beautiful and unique films.
Founders Reuben Mowle & Charlie Fennimore started Glass House Productions with the aim of delivering unique and personalised films which not only look great, but also tell a story. "We saw how brides, bands and businesses alike all shared a common demand for distinct storytelling cinematography.
This inspired us and we both recognised we could make a difference." Since starting in 2016, Glass House Productions has worked alongside, and created a wide range of distinctive films and adverts for a variety of clients including; the BBC, The Independent, Eklectica Festival, Ventnor Fringe, Isle of Wight Council and many more. Glass House Productions is expanding, and handpicks the brightest and best photography and videography talent from across the Isle of Wight to join the team. "All new team members must share the same passion and attention to detail we have." We understand that cinematography is an ever-evolving industry.
Therefore, we at Glass House Productions continuously invest in the latest technologies, software, cameras, and audio equipment in order to provide the best experience and the highest quality product for our clients. We love telling stories through film, so please feel free to contact us and we can chat about making your story a visual masterpiece. Wow, that does sounds very official.
Fortunately all of that is true. We love making films and taking photos. It was a passionate hobby that got drastically out of hand. After leaving University I decided that I wanted to start a creative business in film and photo after taking an interest at uni.
I made videos for myself predominantly, Music videos, live videos and social media content. Then others started to ask if I wanted to make theres. I thought ‘Great, I’ll give it a bash and see if it goes anywhere” I was not ready for what came next...
I continued to make films for others, I made about 10 videos before I realised “Man I should really start charging for this”. So I did, and I decided to do it under the name of Glass House Productions. Shortly after that a friend who worked in the wedding photography game said that I should give the cinematic wedding film making a go, so I did a bit of research and it turns out that wedding films don’t have to be hella boring, they can genuinely be fantastic pieces of art. So with my new found love of wedding films and a tone of passion and motivation, I dived right into my first wedding.
I was joined by Charlie, who I asked if he wanted to give it a go with me. Charlie was a freelancer and a buddy of mine, we met through a mutual friend and he said he was pretty good with a camera. So we took it on together, and we surprised ourselves with the result. Like it wasn't that bad considering we’d never done it. From there, we continued to do other weddings that year for free, so we could continue to build a portfolio.
After 4 weddings in 2016 we moved swiftly into 2017 with another 8 booked.
I continued to work throughout 2017 alongside two jobs, every penny I made from film making it went back into film making. That year I worked like a mad man, 7 in the morning until 12 at night. I grew obsessed. All I wanted was to be a creative full time, I wanted to quit the terrible (ok they weren't that bad it just wasn't for me) jobs I had and be a self made man. I wanted it so badly, that I pushed everyone who was close to me away. I risked everything to make it work. Because of that, I also lost everything too.
Over night my life completely changed... When you live a life like that you can’t balance anything realistically, not to get into too much personal detail (sorry to disappoint) but the relationship I’d built with my EX partner came crumbling around me. I had to move back to my mothers, and leave my old life behind.
As I took a long a hard look at my life I realised what I needed to do. I couldn’t do this alone, I needed a partner, someone who I could trust and someone with the same work ethic as me.
So I asked Charlie in September of 2017, if he wanted to have 50% of my business, for nothing. Like, I know that sounds insane, and frankly it was a huge risk, but it was hands down the single best decision of my career. Charlie came onboard and helped my build this business into what it is.
The following months were the craziest months I’d ever experienced. We worked like mad men, alongside a part time job.
The new year came, and my new goal was set in sight. I wanted to become a self employed man full time by February 2018. I was terrified, but as I handed my notice in that day I remember this feeling of “I am so scared right now, but I know I’m going to be ok”
At the time of writing this, GHP is now fully booked for the summer, with more dates to follow in September/October. We work for some of our dream clients and the business is going faster than I can keep up with. We are continuing to grow, and watching this business that just started as an idea, has now become mine and many others future.
I have certainly had a rough time getting here. But now I look back, I wouldn’t change a dam thing. I have lost a lot, be gained so much more. I can comfortably say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and I can not wait for the future.
