Peel back your ears. Today on BBC Radio 4, 11:30am, a new series ‘SOUND TOWNS’ due to be broadcast. With NEWPORT being the first in a 4-part series divulging into different towns music scenes.
A snapshot of the synonymous past (and the present) of Newport music. By speaking to a handful of some of the great people that were/are a part of it and beautifully narrated by Welsh poet Patrick Jones.
Expect to hear from ‘Dolls, Buds, and Dub’ artists and also some people that have made the music happen.
Pleased to have assisted and supported in the making of this programme with Victoria McArthur. Please ALL tune in at 11:30am today and enjoy and share and spread the word!

Casting minds back to a few months ago for the record release show of ‘Westgate Under Fire’, the newest album in 25+ years by the almighty Dub War
After a week of various in-stores and acoustic build ups. This evenings live show was held at the iconic and suited, The Westgate Hotel the location of the Newport Uprising of the Chartist movement.
The show we covered as a multi-camera filmed event, with help from our good friends at Clear The Fog with this. Dub War elevated so high on the stage, it was a very hot, fun and amazing night to film and capture a great record! Nice to see Dub War back in full effect after so long.

On a cold wintery Saturday morning at the end of November, a few hundred extras were rounded together to all take part for the newest Goldie Lookin Chain (GLC) music video ‘Football, Football, Football’ that was filmed as one of Wales’ musical offerings of 2022 for the World Cup Anthem FA Wales FIFA World Cup.
Newport locals (and many that travelled from afar) gathered near Newport Transporter Bridge along with legions of Newport County AFC and Newport Corinthians AFC young supporters, to join in, sing along and run as fast as they could to get in the one-shot-take moment!
What the GLC described it as being, the "unofficial anthem of ALL football".
Great fun indeed, photo 2 had the steadiest driving by Alan on his Vespa! Can you count how many bucket hats were in the video or how many different languages there were?

A short while before Christmas, we had the pleasure working alongside the creative direction of Mr Anderson Limited to produce the music video for recording artist Hannah Grae for her single ‘Time of Your Time’.
Black Orchid worked closely with on creating and developing the style and feel of the video, liaising closely with the artist, management and record label’s vision, as well as providing the full post-production services to ensure the video's delivery.

This is the face of Black Orchid… Happy New Year to all! And a positive welcome to the year ahead for 2023! 2022 saw Black Orchid work on some great projects with some already existing, and with new exciting clients. As well as, relocating the business premises with the addition of a client viewing/working area. Not to forget, most of all collaborating with some brilliant talent and people to get some truly fun projects done.
Now as the year shapes ahead, longstanding projects will at last see their delivery and new ideas will come to fruition also. This is Black Orchid… and This is 2023!
