So- this is something we have been working on since September - running a project with the North East Combined Authority to support women who are economically inactive and have health barriers to emoloyment. We have been working on well- being, creativity and confidence - but also- we have been working on skills including enterprise. So - our wonderful participants have created a small company - The Canny Kind co. It’s all about being kind to ourselves, the community and the planet.
The first product we have made is a luxury lip balm and we are hoping that The Canny Kind Co. will last beyond the project and become a women’s co-operative that supports and employs women with barriers to employment. And so it's not that long now before DJ John Baker's first record hits the platter at Two by Two Brewery Tap on Albion Row in Byker. Very much hoping to see a few folk there to enjoy his sure-to-be superlative selections this Saturday at Brewery Sessions..
