Fantastic to see Betty Campbell, Wales' first black headteacher and black history campaigner, honoured with a statue in Cardiff - the first statue in Wales of a 'real' woman. Betty faced challenges because of race and gender but was absolutely determined to make a difference. One extraordinary example of uncovering le***an life from history is the Victorian Ann Lister, whose extensive secret coded diary details her female conquests and is famous now as Gentleman Jack following a recent BBC series. Ann's diary was kept under wraps for most of the 20th century even. Did you know Ann was also a passionate explorer and mountaineer, and like Gertrude of Arabia from episode 4 she became the first woman to climb certain European peaks?
