Republicans are still favoured to win the lower chamber of Congress which would severely hamper President Joe Biden's plans but their likely majority is shrinking as votes continue to be counted.

Over the weekend, US networks projected that Democrats had held two Senate seats in Arizona and Nevada, retaining control of the upper chamber.

"This is the third election in a row that Trump has cost us the result," Maryland's Republican Governor Larry Hogan, a long-time critic of the ex-president, told CNN on Sunday.

"He said we would be tired of winning. Well, I'm tired of losing."

But the real test, says BBC's North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher, will be whether Trump allies turn on him in the days and weeks ahead.

Twitter has officially verified a parody page that goes by the name Jesus Christ, and the blue checkmark is possible due to the Twitter Blue subscription, which is rolling out in select countries for $8. The subscription includes perks such as the ability to edit the tweet and the prestigious blue checkmark. Interestingly, the fake Jesus Christ account has been around since 2006, and its bio reads, "Carpenter, Healer, and God". The profile also bears a link to Jesus Christ's Wikipedia page and it has over 7 lakh followers.

After many users started spotting the blue checkmark on Jesus Christ's profile, many were in splits. One user () wrote, "Please make me your only follower, Jesus. I carried you down the beach that one time". Another user () said, "I'm still waiting for Santa to come on Twitter. I just know he's real".

Elon Musk on Tuesday said that politics is war and truth is the first casualty, as he attacked Democrats and supported Republicans during the US mid-term election.
"While it's true that I've been under unfair and misleading attack for some time by leading Democrats, my motivation here is for centrist governance, which matches the interests of most Americans," he tweeted. Musk responded to Pranay Pathole who said Elon has always been a Democratic supporter but "the hate he has been receiving by the Democratic senators is awful".
"Politics is war and truth is the first casualty," said the Tesla CEO.
