North East Screen event held at Northern Film and TV Studios, Hartlepool.

Organised on behalf of Screen Alliance North, a joining of forces of the northern screen organisations.

Connected Communities is an industry initiative to encourage and facilitate people from minority communities entering and playing their unique and vital roles in the media.

It was an excellent event offering a very enlightening insight into this important subject.

As someone who had DoPed several episodes of This Is Deaf, a BSL Talk Show for the deaf community, I greatly appreciated the eye opening discussions about all the varied types of people who need to be encouraged and supported so they can make their important contributions to our national culture by working in all spheres of the media industry.

Sir David Putnam gave a 20 minute presentation which was very informative and positive whilst recognising our region has always had the least media activity of all UK regions, which hopefully will start to change as the new studios and N E Screen activities energised the local sector.
