After meeting the Proteus Instruments / RS Hydro team at Oceanology International this year, we were inspired by their impactful work in water quality monitoring and invited them to take part in The UK River Summit at Morden Hall on 21st May, with Hannah Gunter speaking as part of our main panel "It's Not All About Sewage."

Following on from the event, Managing Director at RS Hydro Rob Stevens said "Just wanted to say how great an experience the River Summit 24 was. A really topical day full of forthright discussions, fun and engagement. The RS24 was unlike any other convention I have been to; it was full of passionate people who want to restore our rivers and bathing waters to their former glory. The summit will no doubt help us to help many of these river champions to make a difference for all of us and it was a real pleasure to be a part of that. The organisation, variety of entertainment and activities was fantastic; very much a blueprint for how this should be done. Well done Zambuni and see you next year!"

Thank you Daily Express for covering The UK River Summit and drawing attention to some of the key topics discussed at the event this week:

More than 90% of freshwater habitats on England's most precious rivers are in unfavourable condition, blighted by farming pollution, raw sewage and water abstraction.

14/05/2024

Join us at the The UK River Summit put on by Zambuni Communications at Morden Hall Park NT on 21st May to discuss the hot topics concerning rivers.

Campaigners, representatives of water companies and politicians will come together to debate and hear about issues affecting rivers. Topics include The Freshwater Emergency, the Future of Farming and Effective Policy in Rivers.

We will be taking the opportunity to mark national Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Week by hosting an INNS workshop alongside the National Trust, who own and run Morden Hall and its park.

Yesterday (Sunday, 14th April), Kennet Catchment River Keepers lead a united protest as the ongoing sewage crisis continues to threaten river and community health.

The event was held by a coalition of concerned groups and individuals, led by the Kennet Catchment River Keepers Association (KCRA), and supported by the Angling Trust, Action for the River Kennet (ARK), residents, and angling clubs from Reading and Newbury.

This united front against Thames Water's negligence called for immediate and decisive action to protect these unique chalk streams and local communities.

We are proud to be supporting this.

As part of Orvis UK's mission to make fly fishing an accessible joy for all, they want to encourage and foster the next generation of saltwater fly fishing anglers.

Our partnership with YETI spans several years and throughout that time, they have been so incredibly supportive.

From sharing the saltwater fly-fishing journey with Orvis UK, keeping Lakedown Brewing Co. & Tap Room beers cool next to the fire of DeliVita pizzas, and always accompanying us to the river bank and beyond, YETI have been a firm support of every wild escapade we have been on in recent years.

Now, YETI have pledged their support of our next venture: The UK River Summit & Festival 2024. This partnership means the world to us and we are honoured to have YETI by our side as we work to enact positive change on our rivers, from the banks and waters of which which so many of our adventures stem.

Thank you, YETI

Happy from our small but mighty team of passionate women 💫

At Zambuni, it's safe to say no day is the same. We are often faced with a plethora of challenges, but our closeness as a team means we can work through them together and we always stay on top. We celebrate our "Magic Mondays", our "Funky Fridays" and everything that gets thrown at us in between 🤪

What sets us apart is that all three of us are completely committed to our cause; making it our business to know the right people, forging long-lasting connections, and gaining informed knowledge of the areas we specialise in so that we can provide the most effective services for our clients. The culmination of this collective commitment is The UK River Summit & Festival, an event which we are incredibly proud to be fostering.

We are proud of our work, and we are proud of all the women out there paving the way towards a brighter future 💪.

Happy 🤩

Delighted that The Salmon School has been endorsed as an Activity for the UN Ocean Decade.

The Salmon School is an international performative project that contextualizes the finality of seemingly infinite natural resources. A synthesis of art and science, The Salmon School fosters environmental awareness, bringing together diverse communities for a greater good — cold, clean water.

A spectacular sculptural artwork is concurrent with maritime or riverine eDNA projects conducted with local communities, growing in both number and scale as it generates awareness. Embracing art’s ability to disarm, to make something beautiful — a sculpture mimicking an ideal, a restored ecosystem — the project achieves measurable change through its actions and initiatives.

Missing Salmon Alliance member, Angling Trust, has recently released details of the first annual Water Quality Monitoring Network (WQMN) report, a crucial citizen science initiative and part of the Anglers Against Pollution campaign.

As of December 2023, 641 anglers from 240 angling clubs actively monitor pollution on 190 rivers across 60 catchments. The distribution of over 400 WQMN monitoring kits and training on using them has resulted in more than 3,800 samples and is revealing the extent of pollution in our waterways.

We feel extremely lucky to work with talented and passionate individuals, working across a range of different sectors and skills. Our good friend, and valued member of the River Festival Team, Evie Garner has not only donated her time and passion to our events, but also her craft. As a professional Graphic Designer in London, we could not be more grateful for her support in designing our UK River Summit 2024 artwork.

Speaking about her inspiration behind the design, Evie said, “The weathervane sitting on top of Morden Hall felt like a perfect visual for The UK River Summit; celebrating the rich heritage of the venue, whilst also serving as a tribute to the rivers and its habitat - just what the event is all about."

300KM in January!! 🏅

Our determined friend and colleague, Emma Sandham, ran 300km last month as part of the Happy Fish Athlete Challenge, to celebrate and raise awareness for World Fish Migration Day this year (May 25th).

For the challenge, individuals can take part in three challenge levels based on distances travelled by three migratory fish species. The challenge distances are drawn from scientific publications and best estimates. The Goby challenge is 300km.

So proud of you Emma!
