Why the 1st January matters so much!

2025! Wow, time moves so quickly, and that’s why January 1st matters so much! How you feel today can change the course of your year—the course of your life. That sounds dramatic, doesn’t it?

Let me explain...

I always use the first day of the year to really consider what works for me. What am I happy to have as part of my life for the next 12 months? What needs to change?

I remember a few years ago feeling sick to my stomach on January 1st, knowing I had to go back to work the following day. Realising that this was my fate for the next 12 months was crushing. Five days a week, working full-time in a job that did not feed my soul - I knew something had to change.

I followed my gut instinct. I felt the feelings and knew in my heart that I didn’t want another year to be the same as the previous ones. So, I put plans in place and made changes. I never want to feel like that again.

You have a choice. You can carry on feeling the same or make a change and ensure this new year is better. Imagine waking up in 12 months’ time, knowing you did everything to live a healthier, happier, more fulfilling life. It’s all up to you!

It’s not just about work; it’s about anything in your life that needs to change. Only you know what that is.

Ask yourself this: if this year is the same as last year, will you be happy?

What does happiness look like to you?

Take note of how you feel today, and let that be your guide for the year ahead.

I am not a huge fan of New Year’s resolutions. I find them to be an excuse not to push yourself for the rest of the year — something to giggle about two weeks into January when you’ve given up on the gym and started eating junk again, and definitely something to moan about for the rest of the year when you’re still paying for the gym membership!

What I am a big fan of is setting intentions and being clear on what you want to achieve — and that’s exactly what I did on January 1, 2024.

Last Sunday we I set about getting the house decorated for Christmas. After fighting the cobwebs and spiders in the garage I found the sealed Christmas decorations and with an elevated fear that a mouse or a huge spider may jump out at me, I opened the box to be greated with a large brown envelope.

WOW! I had completely forgotten about the letter I wrote to myself earlier in the year, my plan for the year, and reading it was magical.

My list was filled with intentions, ideas, experiences, adventures, hope, and a sprinkle of magic. Reading through it was incredible — most of the things on my list had come true. It was mind-blowing to see how some of the items had aligned and even worked together to bring my intentions to life in ways I could never have imagined.

Writing a clear list of intentions and gaining clarity on what I wanted for the year ahead somehow set the wheels in motion and let the universe know exactly what I desired.

Trust the process. Write your letter and let the magic happen!

So a bit of change over here, and I am going back to my photography and creative roots.

After nearly 20 years as a wedding photographer, and a few years of photography retirement, I am switching over to pet photography, which is a very welcome change and it feels so good to be back behind the camera doing what I love 💛

I am also focusing on my writing and other creative endevours but will share more as it develops, but for now, photography is my primary focus.

And I have very exciting developments to share!

I am getting ready to launch my pet photograhy packages, just in time for Black Friday!

I will be offering Gift Vouchers too, a great christmas gift for your pet loving friend or family member that is impossible to buy for 💛
