Nepenthe Press now has an official HQ! We’ve outgrown being able to work from home and the small studio we had. We now have a large studio office on the top floor of the beautiful Town Hall in Settle, North Yorkshire! We will be moving in over the summer holiday!

We are delighted to announce that in 2025 we will be publishing an illustrated, limited edition of this seminal collection of Strange Stories by Robert Aickman. Work will start later this year.

Aickman is widely considered amongst aficionados of horror fiction to be one of the true masters of the weird tale, the term ‘Aickmanesque’ is applied to work clearly influenced by him, and yet there is nothing that has been written before or after, that inhabits the unique, inner room of whispering unease that Aickman does. His uncanny subtlety as an author of weird tales inhabits the ambiguous spaces between what is real and unreal, a freudian, psychological land of dreams and nightmares, which resonates all the more profoundly the longer you are willing to stay.

The deluxe slipcased edition of POE has sold out, so has the lettered edition. A huge thank you to everyone who has ordered copies, almost selling out our second title. We have 3 copies of the letterpress-printed ‘Usher’ left and 36 copies of the standard edition remain at the last count! Again thank you for your support.

Unquiet Slumbers has gone to print! Just a few weeks to wait now, longer for the slipcased copies as they take another four weeks and a book is needed, in hand to make these fit perfectly. Here is a giant sheet of illustration proofs from our printer. The difference from file to print requires endless tweaking and attention, these all came out too dark, and details were lost, so we go back and forth until we are happy with the reproductions

A huge sheet of illustration proofs arrived from our printer for Unquiet Slumbers! Everything has now been green lit and we should have copies within the next few weeks! Remember that slipcased editions will take a further four weeks as physical copies of the book are required to make the slipcases.
