Are you team Bronte’ or team Austen ? 📖📚
I have a bit of a fondness for the Bronte sisters growing up in Yorkshire and visiting their Home in Howarth I was always fascinated by their lives and books and the worlds they created. I do have a love of my namesake Emma written of course by Jane Austen and have a small collection of Emma books . (Practically mandatory when you’re named after the heroine ) but the Brontes will always have my heart. I’m so excited to tell you all that I’ve teamed up with and will be hosting a giveaway !!

I can’t imagine a world without books 📚my love of books began as a child of 7 years old when I won first prize 🏆 for student of the year at school. Our prize was a book 📕 . But the best part was our teacher took all us prize winners piled into the back of his station wagon to a tiny bookstore in the shambles (a medieval street in york ) where we could chose our book . It was the first time I’d been in a bookstore and I was enthralled by the smell and the feel of the books 📚 the beauty of the covers and all the different genres (not just bedtime stories my parents read me ) I chose “the treasury of children’s poems “ I still have it all these years later.
To celebrate world book day sent me the gorgeous Tally book dress 👗 and Toby bookworm 🐛 sweatshirt. Now I can wear my love of literature on my sleeve 📚World Book Day is 7 March 2024

Do you have a toxic trait?
Sitting here thinking I want to move that peacock chair upstairs and that ottoman to the other corner and blah blah a blah blah but having to wait for hubby to come home because I’m not allowed to lift anything or even vacuum for another week (post surgery) incredibly frustrating for a girl who just gets on with things. Hate having to ask for help it’s my toxic trait . What’s yours?

Thrift store find
What’s your best thrifted find ? This Lennox spice village was best find of 2023 , I’ve been searching years for one and then one day casually rushing through town to escape the rain i saw her sitting in the window 🪟 of the thrift store. Well I just about bust a gullet to get in that store and buy it . It’s rare as unicorn 🦄 💩 in the uk 🇬🇧 especially in the north (ha ha saltburn quote ! Being a northerner I’m always gonna be tickled by that. I can’t wait to get out thrifting this summer at all the car boot sales and vintage fairs. There are still a few much sought after items I’ve been after and always thrilled when I find a wild card that I simply must have . I’m that girl who screeches STOP THE CAR at any roadside sales giving my long suffering husband many a heart stopping moment. He don’t buy me jewellery but he sure buys some good thrifts for me 😆

Happy new week everyone
Thank you for all your kind well wishes on my previous post. It’s a scary time waiting for the test results 🙏🏻but I’m resting up and staying cosy reading lots of books and magazines and colouring in my colouring books 📚 childhood rainy day activities have become my guilty pleasure and happy place. All I need now are some fuzzy felts . Who remembers those ?

Girl interrupted
Life threw me a curve ball yesterday ⚾️
After some recent tests I went to hospital for an operation yesterday. It went well but now waiting and praying on results. This is not a pity post or attention seeking . I don’t like to post personal things on here but as I have such a lovely supportive community on this little app I just wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a few days away to recover. I think we can all get caught up thinking people have perfect lives and homes but remember on this little app most people only post the good stuff and I am one of those people because I want my posts to inspire and cheer and brighten up your day . So please don’t worry I’m ok but just need some rest . Thank you all for being here and supporting me . And if you have anything you’re worried about please see your doctor. I’m the biggest baby and have always been terrified of hospitals but it wasn’t at all scary when I was there and our lovely NHS staff were all amazing and kind and wonderful.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kindness and support this year for all your likes and comments and friendship . I really do appreciate you all. This year has been an exceptionally hard year for myself and my family with ill health , broken bones, and loss of loved ones .I try to keep my little instagram world a positive and happy place . Life throws us all curve balls from time to time but along with them there are the joyful times which I’m truly grateful for .
