Italian prosecutors are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sinking of the 56m Perini Navi sloop on the early morning of August 19, when a violent storm struck the yacht off the fishing village of Porticello on the northern coast of Sicily.

A new digital system aims to make it easier for visiting sailors to obtain the Greek Transit Log, required for all private foreign-flagged recreational boats over 7m.

The requirements for a Greek Transit Log have stayed the same, but rather than obtaining one on arrival from Customs, boat owners can now get one online.

Henri-Lloyd has announced it is sponsoring Monty Halls's Leaderbox Blue marine conservation project which aims to increase citizen science research in the marine world.

Working on the premise that people derive much more from physically engaging with marine conservation, Leaderbox Blue enables citizen scientists to get involved with hands-on projects.

Individuals or groups can apply to participate in the research via Monty Halls's official website. Halls will assess each application.

If accepted, a Leaderbox Blue kit will be sent out, containing everything needed for projects covering the following key areas: beach cleaning, habitat restoration, biodiversity surveys, and awareness campaigns.
