Cape Kolka is the most pronounced horn on the shores of Latvia, and it is where the waves from two seas clash – the open Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga. During the bird migration season, dozens of thousands of birds fly over the cape, and this is the best place to start a visit to Slitere National Park. Come spring, Cape Kolka is an ideal place to watch migratory birds. In the summer, it is a paradise on earth for those who love vacations on the beach, while in the autumn and winter it is a fine place to witness the greatness of nature. Cape Kolka is the Northernmost point of the Kurzeme (Courland) peninsula. Its ancient name Domesnes was first mentioned on the Mervalla Rune Stone in Sweden around 1040. The shelf of Cape Kolka stretches into the sea for 6 km and it is bathed by the sea at a depth of 0,5-3 km. The waves of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga meet on its shelf. During storms waves can reach a height of 7 m. This place is also known as a unique bird watching site, for the cape is crossed by the Baltic Sea – the White Sea birds’ migration route. - #travel, #balticsea, #adventure, #vanlife, #nature, #kolka, #tourism, #summer, #Courland, #outdoor, #freedom, #landscape, #journey, #nomad, #campervan, #alternative, #Livonian, #free, #roadtrip, #wanderlust, #capekolka, #gulfofriga, #water, #latvia, #kurzeme, #domesnes, #baltic, #Kolkasrags, #baltics, #nousmadic
Discover The Charming Streets Of Tallinn, Estonia - Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is a charming city that blends mediaeval history with modern innovation. Tallinn's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with cobblestone streets, colourful buildings, and impressive architecture dating back to the 13th century. The mediaeval indigenous population of what is now Tallinn and north Estonia was one of the last "pagan" civilisations in Europe to adopt Christianity following the Papal-sanctioned Livonian Crusade in the 13th century. The city skyline is dominated by the towering spires of St. Olaf's Church, providing a breathtaking view of the city and its surroundings. In addition to its historic charm, Tallinn is also known for its thriving arts and culture scene. It is home to numerous art galleries, museums, and theatres, showcasing Estonia's rich cultural heritage and contemporary creativity. - Shot on Sony A7R3, FE 70-200 f2.8 GM, FE 35 mm F1.4 GM - Check Instagram for more: https://www.instagram.com/nousmadic/ #estonia, #visitestonia, #estonian, #visittallinn, #tallinn, #tallinncity, #tallinn_city, #estland, #tallinnoldtown, #tallinnestonia, #traveldestinations, #europedestinations, #landscapephotography, #travel, #balticsea, #balticstates, #adventure, #vanlife, #tourism, #outdoor, #freedom, #landscape, #journey, #campervan, #alternative, #free, #roadtrip, #wanderlust, #baltics, #nousmadic
Mazirbe Boat Cemetery, Latvia - Boats overgrown with plants lie abandoned within these woods. In the summer, when the grass grows tallest, they’re difficult to spot. This is the Mazirbe Boat Cemetery in Latvia. When the ban on individual fishing was introduced to the border regime zone, the boats that weren’t used for building smokehouses, were abandoned in the woods along the coast of Latvia between 1950 and 1970.Nowadays, this graveyard is the only one of its kind in the area, and its time here appears to be running short. As nature continues reclaiming the site, the wooded graveyard is expected to be lost in about 10 years. #travel, #balticsea, #adventure, #vanlife, #nature, #sea, #tourism, #summer, #water, #outdoor, #freedom, #landscape, #journey, #nomad, #campervan, #alternative, #nationalpark, #free, #roadtrip, #wanderlust, #boatcemetery, #coast, #woods, #latvia, #marzibe, #sony, #a7RIII, #SonyAlpha, #sonyphotography, #nousmadic
Europe's Widest Waterfall, Kuldiga, Estonia - We came to Kuldīga mainly because of the Venta Rapid, the widest waterfall in Europe, 249 metres in width (becomes as wide as 275 metres during spring floods), but only two metres in height though.240 metres from the waterfall is located the famous Kuldīga brick bridge. It was built in 1874 and is the longest operating brick bridge in Europe.Since we didn't know much about the town, we set ourselves up for a huge surprise, rambling around the beautiful picturesque streets of this Latvian marvel. The architectural value in the historical centre is self-evident. There is not a single plastic window in the old town. Each building features a restored wooden door, the old buildings are not insulated, not a single wood-shed is demolished and every fence has a purpose.- Shot on Sony A7R3, DJI Mini 3 Pro - Check Instagram for more: https://www.instagram.com/nousmadic/ #travel, #balticsea, #adventure, #vanlife, #nature, #kuldiga, #tourism, #summer, #architecture, #outdoor, #freedom, #landscape, #journey, #nomad, #campervan, #alternative, #authentic, #free, #roadtrip, #wanderlust, #architecture, #waterfall, #oldtown, #latvia, #VentasRumba, #soviet, #Venta, #VentaRapid, #baltics, #nousmadic
Sailing Marina Skłodowo, PolandThe Polish Masurian Lake District is certainly one of the places we will come back to. It’s an area in northeastern Poland within the geographical region of Masuria, in the past inhabited by Masurians who spoke the Masurian dialects. It contains more than 2,000 lakes. The district had been elected as one of the 28 finalists of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The Lakeland extends roughly 290 km (180 mi) eastwards from the lower Vistula to the Poland–Russia border, and occupies an area of roughly 52,000 square kilometres (20,000 sq mi). The lakes are well connected by rivers and canals, forming an extensive system of waterways. The 18th-century Masurian Canal links this system to the Baltic Sea. The whole area is a prime tourist destination, frequented by boating enthusiasts, canoeists, anglers, hikers, bikers and nature-lovers. It is one of the most famous lake districts in Central Europe and a popular vacation spot, with a high number of visitors every year.We were also lucky to encounter a wild moose and a baby moose on the grounds of the marina. Alvor is definitely worth visiting for it's stunning rock formations. You will find it between Lagos and Portimão. There's plenty of hidden caves, but pay attention to the tides. The town itself is very touristic, exceptionally popular among the British tourists.#alvor, #algarve, #portugal, #atlantic, #sea, #nature, #water, #ocean, #travel, #landscape, #coast, #sand, #beach, #coastline, #tourism, #summer, #outdoor, #vacation, #rock, #seascape, #cliff, #view, #europe, #destination, #praia, #portimao, #scenic, #portuguese, #seaside, #lagos
It’s been such a nice time spent in this parking spot! Quiet Praia da Mareta on one side, Praia do Tonel full of surfers on the other side, Praia do Beliche at 3km away, few hikes around the area.
And last but not least, some of the most spectacular sunsets we’ve experienced in Portugal!
We couldn’t ask for more!
Thank you, Sagres!

Impressions of Riga, Latvia
“Sen to Rigu daudzinaja,
Nu to Rigu ieraudziju,
Visapkart smilšu kalni,
Parti Rīga udeni.”
(“For a long time Riga has been glorified,
finally I saw it,
everywhere around the sandy hills,
Riga, even in the water.“)
This is a daina, a traditional form of Latvian folk poetry, often sung in a melodic style that has been passed down through generations. These short verses typically focus on themes such as nature, love, and the everyday life of the people and are vital to understand the construction of Latvian identity.
Dainas are an important part of Latvian cultural heritage, and are often used in festivals, ceremonies, and other cultural events to celebrate and preserve the country’s unique traditions.

Back in 2018 we travelled to Thailand. It was our first trip together. At the time we had a pretty comfortable life, but really the only thing on our minds was to pack our bags and go explore foreign lands.
It was in Thailand that we asked ourselves the question: “What life would be like, if we travelled full time?”.
