How time flies.
My Paris 2024 adventure is over. A great honour to work as Production Manager for OBS at Roland Garros.
This is my 3rd Olympics in this role and as always it is the people you meet that make everything so special.

One of the great trophy presentations of all time.

Producing for World Rugby and Rugby Pass TV on the Japan v England match.

A very early start but made all the easier by an amazing team at PLP and IMG.

Plus working with Flats, Ben Kay and Topsy Ojo is never dull.

Plus the added bonus of meeting and working with Ellie Kildunne for the first time and able to congratulate her on the Olympics selection.

5 years ago l was in Verbier for Red Bull TV as Executive Producer on the FIS Freeride World Tour.

I have been incredibly lucky to work on these events with so many great people over the last two decades.

Commentary is vital in bringing these events to life along with the pictures.

I was taught a great tip for all commentators. That is to think of the 2Es & 2Is.

Entertain - if you aren't enjoying it why should the viewer
Educate - where are we, who is competing, what is at stake

Identify - the cornerstone of commentary whether it is athletes, animals or machines - you have to be able to tell the viewer who is who.
Inform - what is the score, how long to go, how far to go.

New viewers are joining all the time and never assume that they know anything or everything about the sport they are watching.

The more you can entertain them and help them, the more they will enjoy what they are watching and the more chance there is of them coming back.

Hi there commentator chums.

I have started a Facebook Group for commentary. l have noticed over the years how little time is spent on feedback and chatting to you about what a producer wants.

So l thought it would be a good idea to set up a space where we can all chat about what we are working on, get advice from other commentators and ask me questions about how the commentary fits into the overall production.

Plus what a producer is looking for and why.

Please do feel free to pass this onto new and experienced commentators, bloggers, vloggers, YouTubers and people who are looking to get started in, or are interested in commentary and can’t find any resources.
