Ed Templeton’s ‘Wires Crossed’ is a long term documentary look at the subculture of skateboarding. A professional skateboarder from 1990-2012, this book is a quasi-memoir and a no-holds-barred depiction of what being a skateboarder was like between 1995 and 2012.

‘Wires Crossed’ was published by in 2023, and featured in our latest issue 212 “Meet the Templetons” along with other projects by .templeton.

“Rereading my diary entries that first time was more challenging than including them in my book. After nearly thirty years, I was taken aback by how sad and mean I was toward myself back then; it made me cry. By the second and third readings, it started to hurt less. And eventually, I could view them with a sense of humour, recognising how dramatic I was at that age. It wasn’t about mocking my younger self, but instead thinking ‘if only I knew then what I know now’- that these feelings are temporary, that I deserved kindness, and that I would be okay”

Made in Brighton during the winter months, the series Murmuration reveals the spectacle of starlings gathering in tens of thousands, as they fly in shape-shifting formations, twisting and swooping across the sky, in a mesmerising and ephemeral dance.

Created by in 2010 for the Brighton Photo Biennial, commissioned by

Rinko Kawauchi’s work is currently showing in two solo exhibitions:

-At the Edge of the Everyday World, until Feb 26th

-a faraway shining star, twinkling in hand, until April 20th .berlin

It’s that time of the year again! Time to take stock of what we’ve done well, where we’ve fallen short, and what we hope the next year will shape up to be. But most importantly, it’s time to thank all of you.

As most of you know, we are an independent publication. This means we don’t rely on advertising to keep us going, we rely on YOU. So we want to say thank YOU! Thank you for being here, for your valued feedback, and most of all, for your continued support. With that support, over the past year we have been able to produce two beautiful issues, ‘Shooting Mum and Dad’ and ‘Meet The Templetons’. We hope you’ve enjoyed them as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing them to you.

We couldn’t be more grateful for our community.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you in 2025! 🌟

In our most recent issue, we review Maja Daniels’ latest book, Gertrud.

“In Gertrud, Maja Daniels continues to concentrate on Älvdalen, Sweden, this time reimagining the story of Gertrud Svensdotter, an eleven-year-old girl who was accused of walking on water in 1667, which led to the beginning of the Swedish witch hunts.”

In Issue 205: At Home, published in 2021, we featured images from Christopher Anderson’s series, Pia.

Having never photographed his own personal life, it didn’t occur to Anderson that these images would be a part of his work. Two years into making these photographs he realised that not only they were his life’s work, but also, they marked a new era a search for hope in the Trump/COVID-19 reality.

At the same time as Canadian American photographer Christopher Anderson became a father for the first time, his own father was diagnosed with lung cancer. His series Son exquisitely explores that most universal and perplexing of experiences - the transitional moment from son to father, and from caregiver to the cared for.

In our latest issue, we review ‘s book ‘Sex, Death, Transcendence’.

“In turning the female gaze onto herself, Linda Troeller presents the female body, historically a site of social inequality, as inseparable from its value as a human
being. She subverts conventional ideas of youth and desire with images of herself naked in a neck brace, wrapped in bandages, then older, in a blonde wig,
sexy lingerie, makeup, jeweller … all the accoutrements of beauty”

‘Sex, Death, Transcendence’ has been short-listed at the 2024 Arles Book Awards and was a finalist at the Athens Photo Festival. You can find her work displayed in the upcoming Chania International Photo Festival Greece on the 22nd - 26th of July.

Read the full review in our latest issue, 211 - ‘Shooting Mum and Dad’.

In the series, he “lovingly follows his parents over the course of 10 years as they age, love and eventually leave. This book acts as much as loving memorial and tribute as it does artist book.”

Mark Steinmetz is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
