What is the thing that ignites your deep sense of purpose? Which makes your heart sing? To observe and hold sisters traversing the terrain of old-limiting beliefs and transiting to self-empowerment, love, and the recognition of their divine essence, is exactly why I am here. The overwhelm sense of purpose is rooted right there, in service to another, in service to seeing the veil being lifted, as their eyes are filled with child-like wonder and deep trust, in service to witnessing deep somatic shifts as transformation of pure love is seeded deep with, my purpose is rooted right there.

She is a prominent young female voice for the Huni Kuin people, she resides in the remote village of Jordão within the Brazilian Amazon's state of Acre. Rita is not only a gifted visual artist, capturing the essence of her culture's traditional stories through her art, but she's also a co-founder of Ainbu Dayá. Her passion lies in empowering Huni Kuin women, fostering connections to their ancestral wisdom, medicines, songs, and dances.

My heart softened in the presence of this elder, she holds the deep wisdom of love and compassion (as you can see on her necklace). As she drew near, an instant serenity washed over me. The cacophony of countless weeping children and weary parents surrounding me receded like whispers into the wind (a tale for another day), and the entire world seemed to slow down as the dance of our energies welcomed each other.

Her eyes, like ancient gateways, welcomed me into the depths of her history. There, I saw gratitude etched for the land, heritage, sorrows, and a profound love that flowed like a river through her community, her kin, and the sacred land.

The Kuna Yala, also known as the Guna Yala, are indigenous people who reside in the coastal regions of Panama and Colombia. Their culture is known for its vibrant art, traditional clothing, and strong sense of community.

To have reverence for our elders is essential for the continuation of culture, the preservation of timeless rituals, and the embodiment of profound wisdom. They stand as custodians of ancestral traditions. May we listen deeper, take more time and quiet our minds so we can too embed the wisdom into our bones.

In this new phase of evolution, indigenous communities are playing a vital role by sharing their ancient ways with the world. As they connect with their songs, dances, ceremonies and rituals it is creating a awakening, a remembering inside of us. Reconnecting us with that which may have been lost - which is now being found, an intricate interweaving with the tapestry of nature, a poignant realisation of animism it’s self. May we too believe and feel the magic which is creating a spiral dance of divine light around our every thought, word and action. ✨🌞

The red-eyed tree frog, with its vibrant hues and striking crimson eyes, has long captured the imagination of those seeking spiritual symbolism in the natural world. Inhabiting the lush rainforests of Central and South America, this creature is often associated with renewal, transformation, and cycles of rebirth. Its ability to transition from vibrant green to concealed shades of blue and yellow reflects the duality of existence, reminding us of life's ever-changing nature. The piercing red eyes of the frog are seen by some as windows to the soul, inviting introspection and contemplation. In spiritual narratives, the red-eyed tree frog can represent the interconnectedness of all life, serving as a messenger between the physical and spiritual realms, urging us to embrace our own transformative journey and to view the world with renewed wonder and awareness.

Deep gratitude and inspiration spiral around my body as I reflect on this profound experience of documenting the Wisdom Carriers at Medicine Festival this year.

This is the group of Ninawa "Pai da Mata" (Father of the Forest), the Huni Kuin community from the village of Novo Futuro on the Humanitá River in Acre, Brazil.

The first image is of Txana Tuwe, who is a spiritual leader and advocate for bringing cultural teachings and wisdom to the next generation. He holds powerful transmissions of sacred chants and a light which brightens up every room.

In her sacred gatherings, Garra Rrana invokes the power of her ancestral legacy, skillfully conjuring the essence of time-honored rites. With grace and reverence, she becomes a conduit to the very origins of our existence, leading us on a journey that transcends the boundaries of time and space. Through her wisdom, she reunites us with the lineage of creation, grounding us deeply in the collective narrative that courses through our veins.

Among the sacred rhythms of tribal dance and the haunting melodies of ancient songs, Garra Rrana beckons forth the spirits of ages past.
