The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has announced that flooding in 47 provinces of Thailand since August 16 has resulted in 57 fatalities and 28 injuries. The floods have particularly impacted Suphan Buri and Ayutthaya provinces, affecting 12 districts, 138 sub-districts, 876 villages, and over 35,000 households. In response, the DDPM has deployed 4,749 personnel and 2,308 pieces of equipment, including 61 heavy-duty machines, to assist in relief efforts. In southern Thailand, waterways have been cleared of aquatic plants to enhance water flow and mitigate future flooding risks.
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for variable weather and heavy rains from November 3 to 6. A high-pressure system moving in from China is expected to lower temperatures in northern Thailand by 1 to 2 °C, with cooler weather anticipated in mountainous regions. Heavy rainfall is forecasted in southern provinces, particularly on November 3 and 4, affecting areas like Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Krabi. Additional rain is expected in Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Phuket from November 5 to 6.
The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has issued flash flood and landslide alerts for 11 southern provinces from November 2 to 6, particularly in Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Phuket. Reservoirs in the South, including those in Ranong, Surat Thani, and Krabi, are being closely monitored as water levels surpass 80%. Water levels in the Chao Phraya River Basin are expected to stabilize within a week. Currently, the Bhumibol Dam is operating at 176% capacity to provide additional storage for the dry season, while the Chao Phraya Dam is releasing water at a controlled rate.
Nationwide assistance continues, with the Ministry of Public Health reporting 77 flood-related deaths and providing medical, mental health, and sanitation services to over 245,000 people. The Royal Irrigation Department has deployed 76 water pumps in Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, and Songkhla to manage water flow. The Royal Thai Armed Forces are distributing essential supplies in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani, assisting with home repairs in Nonthaburi, and supporting other affected areas. In Chiang Mai, telecommunications have been disrupted, with four stations out of service due to water damage.
International support includes UNICEF Thailand providing 1,000 hygiene, baby, and learning kits to communities in Chiang Rai, and the AHA Center distributing 1,500 family kits under the DELSA Project to Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, and Phayao. Financial relief totaling over 1.69 billion baht has been distributed to 188,413 households across 57 provinces, with an additional 267.11 million baht scheduled for distribution from November 4 to 6 to assist 29,679 households in Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, and Uthai Thani.

Mr. Songwit Chinbut, the owner of Chinbut Tour—whose bus accident tragically claimed 23 lives—appears to have a keen eye for curtains. If only he showed the same concern for safety. Today, authorities discovered that five more of his buses were operating with a combined 11 fuel tanks, nearly double the legal limit of six. Even more alarming, the rear emergency exits, positioned 3.5 meters off the ground, were non-functional. Imagine the terror of facing a locked door as smoke and flames close in. 😞
