Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti (26 October 1685 – 23 July 1757), was an Italian composer best known for his 555 sonatas (originally titled Essercizi) for solo harpsichord. Although Scarlatti was born in Naples, he spent most of his life in Madrid and as such, has been heavily influenced by Iberian folk music and particularly the Spanish Guitar.
