‘Ashram Sun’ is an ode to ’s upbringing and musical teachings in the tradition of Swamini Turiyasangitananda - aka Alice Coltrane, the spiritual jazz colossus Herself, at Her Sai Anantam Ashram in California. The album includes invaluable contributions from the high priestesses of music , , & Radha Botofasina, channeling and celebrating their feminine energy and power. 

Surya highlights this importance: ‘I have a high need for women to be represented on my albums because it is beyond known, but unfortunately, not so addressed how women have been completely underserved in the music industry from not only a safety aspect, a representation aspect but also a business equality aspect.’ 

Surya met at a night of dedication to Swamini. “We had this great moment on ‘There Will Be Brighter Days’ -an organic chant moment that she felt, and we made that our refrain.”

Surya says about ‘Thru Her Wisdom Eye’ ft : “Mia is so important to each album. I don’t feel like an album is complete if Mia is not on it.”

Today on his solar revolution anniversary on the 18th November we remember and celebrate the late, great spiritual jazz trumpeter, multi instrumentalist, and composer, Don Cherry. We are inspired by his spiritual path and unwavering conviction towards the betterment of global humanity.

Cherry was a visionary pioneer who introduced a blend of world music with jazz, and was passionate in his exploration of ethnic music of different cultures around the world. His collaborators range from Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, Latif Khan, John Coltrane, Naná Vasconcelos, Collin Walcott and avant-garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, and so many more.

He and Moki were a tour-de-force shaping and leading the cultural landscape in Sweden and Europe, bringing their unique Organic Music vision on tour, frequently crossing between Sweden and America.

It has been our honour to release records that echo this inspiration, and to work with many generations of his family and collaborators.

Today visionary musician Kahil El Zabar is honoured at the seventh annual benefit, celebrating 50 years of his unwavering contribution to great black Music. This is a timely celebration as the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble return from their triumphant European tour. Tonight they will play alongside Moroccan-French visual artist Latifa Echakhch. 

It is a joyous honouring of the inspiring journey of and of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble; who just dazzled at Le Guess Who festival in Utrecht, and continue to bring their visionary music into deep roots and future routes, channelling traditions old and new. 

Kahil’s performances “prove him to be an inimitable force, as he animates his band and audiences alike with dazzling hand drums, buoyant vocals, shamanic stage presence, and improvised conduction. His unparalleled dedication keeps alight a rich creative lineage while continuing to foster a new generation of players, ensuring this fiery musical legacy continues to burn brightly.”

Thank you to , for the in depth interview with Surya by who delves into the ‘Ashram Sun’ album. Teo spoke to Surya on eve of the release, before he took to the stage with his New Blue Sun bandmates in Colorado saying of Surya, ‘The peace and generosity that exude from his music were palpable in the man himself’.

Surya is a spiritual artist, he brings his spiritual sonic expression to both the ‘New Blue Sun’ and ‘Ashram Sun’ records in a meaningful and intentional way:

‘...it’s called spiritual jazz because, I guess, spiritual implies that we’re taking everything of our spirit, of ourselves, of our divine light, and we’re putting it and infusing it into how we express ourselves... But the way that I would consider my own efforts at this current moment. I wouldn’t necessarily call it spiritual jazz. I would call it spiritual sonic expression.’

“By looking into Kahil El Zabar’s innovative musical vocabulary and approach to percussion, there is an eruption of interdependence through ancestry and ritual that shouts ‘The Time is Now!’ (Something he usually ends his phone conversations with when we speak)…. The mapping of sounds is merged with the multitudes of listening through a Sikh understanding of melody to become one with it. In this sense, we see the iconography of swords, shastars and other weapons levitating in a dance of protection and exaltation. The album blends improvisation in the creative music tradition with spiritualised keyboard work, atmospheric percussion and sacred vocalisation.

Today is the anniversary of the release of ‘Organic Nation Listening Club (The Continual), originally released on the 15th October 2021. We honour the memory of David Ornette Cherry and cherish the music that he released with us.

In this album David Ornette Cherry follows in his father’s tradition - the innovative jazz trumpeter and composer, Don Cherry, or organic music universality. The album is a unique family affair, David collaborated with his nieces and , daughters of the wonderful, , David Ornette’s sister, whose brilliant book ‘A Thousand Threads’ was released last week and is not to be missed.

The phenomenal record features talented musicians from across the globe, creating genre-defying, groovy, spiritual landscapes blending electronica, Eastern and native sounds and beautiful wings and strong that transport the listener through doorways of ancient pathways and futuristic crossroads. It is an ode to Surya’s upbringing and musical teachings in the tradition of Swamini Turiyasangitananda - aka Alice Coltrane, by the spiritual jazz colossus Herself, at Her Sai Anantam Ashram in California. ‘Ashram Sun’ is a deep listening, spiritual masterpiece with close collaborators Carlos Niño and , incl. contributions from the high priestesses of music , and .

‘Everyone’s Children’ (Surya’s stunning debut album) combined deep listening excursions with expansive synth passages and intimate piano soundscapes to create a hypnotic, meditative and devotionally expressive suite that soothes, enriches and uplifts the soul.
