Activists' Rights LSE Amnesty International Campaign

Activists' Rights LSE Amnesty International Campaign Join us for a week of campaigning, to protect the rights of those who are so often overlooked, the activists themselves. This has to change.

Human rights activists are targeted and victimised across the world, simply for defending what they know to be right. The LSESU Amnesty International Society's campaign, from 16th-20th February, will raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity, Front Line Defenders. Come to our exciting and informative events, taking place all week:
- Panel Discussion, How to Protect Human Rights Activis

ts from Persecution, 19th February, 6.30pm, CLM 7.02
- Photo Exhibition on the History of Activism, and the plight of activists still at risk today, 1st Floor, Saw Swee Hock, all week
- Vigil for Raif Badawi, Saudi Embassy, 20th February, 4.30-6.00pm
- Cake Sale and Information Stall, Houghton Street, all week

Activists are defined by their actions rather than by their profession, job title or organisation. They can be community leaders, journalists, lawyers, trade unionists, students or members of human rights organizations. They can defend women's rights, environmental rights, indigenous peoples' rights, children's rights, minority rights, refugee rights or the rights of Le***an, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people. In many countries they face considerable personal risk because they stand up for the rights of others against powerful interests. Help us to change it.
