Broadcaster and journalist Mishal Husain spoke wonderfully to a packed audience at the Authors’ Club lunch yesterday about her book 'Broken Threads', a memoir of her family through the turbulent final years of the British Raj and the partition of India and Pakistan. Tracing the lives of her four grandparents, she picked out threads of the humanity and compassion of good people adrift in the fear and violence of cataclysmic events. Full report to follow on our web site.

Our next event: 16th Jan, lunch with Ben Mackintyre, author of Sunday Times #1 bestsellers 'Colditz', and 'SAS: Rogue Heroes'. He will be talking about his book 'The Siege: The Remarkable Story of the Greatest SAS Hostage Drama'.

The Authors’ Club is a London-based social club for all those professionally concerned with the written word. Full details of future events, and of membership, are available on our web site at https://www.authorsclub.co.uk/

Renowned broadcaster, journalist and author John Sweeney gave an outstanding talk to a capacity crowd at the Authors’ Club yesterday. During questions with Authors’ Club Chair Lucy Popsescu, Sweeney described in robust terms how Russian dissident Alexei Navalny was arrested and murdered by Vladimir Putin’s repressive regime. Sweeney has met both Putin and Navalny, and was able to give chilling insights into Putin’s methods. These, and the threat Putin poses to Western democracies, are described in detail in Sweeney’s book Murder in the Gulag. There was a long queue for signed copies!

Forthcoming Authors’ Club events:
