We join the genre community in mourning the passing of Johnny Legend, a singular presence in the world of rockabilly bastards, wrestling mummies and teenage UFO rock & roll monster shows. From the days of the NYC Psychotronic Store, London Scala Sleazemania All-Nighters and Las Vegas VSDA live go-go extravaganzas to his securing us some incredibly strange materials for our 2022 Ray Dennis Steckler box set, Johnny was a unique and irreplaceable figure in the Severin universe. This Legend was hep to it all, and we shall not see his like again.

"That said, with all of those great releases unleashed this year, special mention has to go to Severin Films for their outstanding work bringing to high-definition home video for the first time five of Russ Meyer’s classic films, something a segment of the cult film community that would never happen. Blu-ray and UHD editions of Vixen, Supervixens, Beneath The Valley Of The Ultravixens, Up! and Motorpsycho! all landed in the first few months of the year and not only did they look and sound better than ever before but they were loaded with excellent extra features documenting the making and historical significance of these movies and the people that made them. While there hasn’t been any news about future releases in this line, the fact that these happened at all is a bit of a miracle and they all deserve to be recognized as such!"
