‘Local Expert’ for the show this week is Jude Kelly CBE, Olivier award winning theatre director, arts producer and founder of the WOW Foundation – Women of the World – celebrating women, girls and non-binary people and their achievements. Jude has been a huge creative force in our boroughs during her illustrious career, with her work including building the Battersea Arts Centre and being artistic director of the Southbank Centre. The WOW tour will launch at the Twickenham Exchange next week.

This week’s show celebrates local authors, favourite books, beloved characters & Putney!

‘Local Hero’ is author Kamapala Chukwuka who noticed that local libraries did not have books with characters in who her children recognised. She wanted to increase the diversity of what was available for her children to read and decided to be the change she wanted to see! Now she visits schools all over Wandsworth reading her stories and encouraging children to write their own. ‘If you can see it, you can be it!’ is her mantra 📚

On the show this week our ‘Local Hero’ is a building - The Woodfield Pavilion - and to chat to us on its behalf is project manager, Janet Baker. We hear about the excellent support she and her brilliant team of volunteers offer to the local neighbourhoods around Tooting Common where the Pavilion is located.
