🎙️ This week in it was my pleasure to host an exclusive avant-premiere of “Our Blue World” - a Water Odyssey.” A film by the Brave Blue World Foundation narrated by the one and only Liam Neeson✨

💧Water nourishes, it revitalises mind, body and soul. It is the very essence of our life.

🌏 But as it is said in “Our Blue World,” that sacred connection and love for this planet’s natural essence is being broken.

🚰 Today 2 Billion of us don’t have access to clean drinking water. By 2025, 1.8 billion people are expected to be living with absolute water scarcity.

⁉️Is this an act of nature or a man made crisis?

📈 The need to create better awareness of the growing water resilience crisis after decades of mismanagement, pollution, ecosystem degradation, as well as from the effects of climate change and a growing population, is acute.

🎥 “Our Blue World” is not only visually stunning taking you across the world, it explores how human agency can help rebalance the planet’s water system.

Something that was discussed in our fireside chat “Actions and Opportunities for Increased Water Resilience in Europe.”

🇪🇺EU Elections 2024 are approaching, and the future of the bloc is at the forefront of many conversations. Recently, I had the pleasure of moderating a conversation at the European Parliament on "Navigating the digital future – balancing innovation, ethics and security in the EU," hosted by Tata Consultancy and MEP Dragos Tudorache. The event was a great success, and I want to thank Hill & Knowlton for inviting me back to moderate such a great panel.

🇪🇺The EU is currently at a crossroads, balancing between crisis and opportunity. While geopolitical and economic uncertainties continue to mount, the pace of innovation is accelerating and could bring about significant societal change. I want to thank the speakers for their valuable contributions, which helped us gain a better understanding of how to navigate the digital future.

🩺 NCD’s are disease/illness not transmitted and range from mental health conditions, strokes, heart disease, diabetes and chronic lung disease.

🩺 Globally 1 in 5 adolescent are caused by NCDs

🩺 NCDs account for 87 percent of disease burden in the EU.

📣So proud of my sister who has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to international development, humanitarian action and community cohesion.

The Afghanistan Withdrawal is chalked off as a foreign policy disaster but it was so much more than that. The world turned their backs on the amazing Afghan people and left them to suffer a life not worth living under the Taliban.

There are many amazing Afghan women - judges, journalists and everyday hero’s who escaped the brutality of the Taliban and found refuge in the UK. I have had the honour to meet many of these superhero’s through my sister at events at Westminster and across London. Beautifully I’m only known there as “Zehra’s sister.”

Many people’s advocacy is limited to their socials but my sister has beat the door down of the UK foreign office to help women and girls get out of harms way, she’s never off the TV or radio beating the drum for the rights of Afghan women, she’s organised marches in London, summits for Afghan women and girls and set up an APG for Afghanistan.

This OBE recognises her tireless work and I hope one day the world will allow the people of Afghanistan to live in dignity, with hope and happiness 🇦🇫

📺 The presenting shift goes by in a blip.

On we covered the 🚨 that had brokered a four day that would see and exchange hostages and prisoners.

Equally important: 200 trucks carrying basic necessities would be allowed into to provide some relief to .

🏥 We spoke to the Palestinian Red Cross who told us they are ready to mobilise and support those affected in the strip.

🕣 The truce begins at 0700 local time and the swap/exchange should start by 1600 local.

📺 Friday will be busy so goodnight from me in and see you all tomorrow for what will be another difficult day for all involved in this crisis. I hope families on both sides will be reunited 🙏🏽

💉Covid what now? It’s the nightmare we’ve all firmly put in the rear view mirror.

💭 Memories of sickness (and worse) isolation, mental health, loneliness…the horrors were endless.

🇪🇺 In I moderated a debate that looked at the what now⁉️

🩺 Health - once a priority has fallen down the list.

🩺 Not only does this raise red flags over post disaster planning for (unfortunately) the next health emergency, but there are many people with compromised immune systems, respiratory, cardiovascular disease and the list goes on, who Covid-19 still poses a real threat to.

👩🏽‍💻 According to a prescription for European prosperity is to keep health a priority. They claim that “better health” could boost Europe’s GDP by 10 percent by 2040.

🇪🇺 In her 2023 SOTEU, Ursula Von Der Leyen lauded the EU’s response to Covid-19, saying they had put the building blocks in place for a European health union.

💉 But practically and on the ground, have they really fixed the problems exposed by the pandemic? Have they reinforced their workforces, improved treatment for vulnerable groups?
