Dubai is gearing up to host two significant international congresses in September. The UAE city will welcome the 10th edition of the World Free Zones Organisation (World FZO) World Congress and the 30th edition of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress.

The World FZO World Congress will be held at Madinat Jumeirah from 23-25 September, celebrating its 10th anniversary with the theme ‘Zones and the Shifting Global Economic Structures – Unlocking New Investment Avenues.’ This event will draw over 2,000 global and regional business leaders, free zone officials, and experts from more than 100 countries. The congress will focus on the role of economic zones in global trade, which account for over a third of the world’s trade flows. Discussions will cover their impact on national economies, trade facilitation, digital economy support, foreign investment attraction, and the growth of new sectors like AI and advanced technology.

Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has launched the first sea-cage aquaculture project, that uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools, in Abu Dhabi.

The project aims to reduce pressure on wild fisheries by helping to produce up to 100 tonnes of fish annually.

Six floating sea cages consist of various fish species, which have already seen 168,000 Safi Arabi, 122,000 Gabit, 100,000 Shaam, and 90,000 Sheri fish released.
The AI technology will monitor the quality of both the fish and the water.

The project will also help with environmental issues by addressing climate change impacts and ensuring sustainable sea-based aqua culture in the UAE capital.

Fleetwood, Rose and Scott commit to Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Olympic Silver Medallist Tommy Fleetwood will bid for further success on the 2024 Race to Dubai when he tees it up at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, from November 7-10.

The Dubai resident will be joined in Abu Dhabi by Major champion and former World Number Ones Adam Scott and Justin Rose, who have also qualified for the penultimate event of the 2024 season.

The fourth Rolex Series event of the season, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship assumes a new position on the Tour’s Global Schedule as part of the season-ending ‘DP World Tour Play-Offs’.

Fleetwood is no stranger to success in the United Arab Emirates having claimed three of his seven DP World Tour victories to date in the country. A two-time winner of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2017 and 2018, he also won the season-long Race to Dubai in 2017 and earlier this year took the title at the inaugural Dubai Invitational.

Last month Fleetwood claimed the Silver Medal for Great Britain at the Paris Olympics, sharing the podium with World Number One Scottie Scheffler and Major winner Hideki Matsuyama at Le Golf National, the same venue where he made his Ryder Cup debut in 2018.

Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi hosted an exclusive preview event on August 29 ahead of the launch of the world’s first Ferrari-themed Esports Arena which is set to officially open to the public in September 2024. The award-winning theme park celebration featured VIPs, media, influencers, and other distinguished guests.

The event had guests on the edge of their seats with thrilling live entertainment, including performances by a Pit Crew Dance Troupe, a comedic mechanic, a mesmerizing magician, and fantastic music by a DJ. Ras Al Khaimah Goes After Indian Tourists, Dubai’s Biggest Source Market

The northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has its eyes on India for inbound tourism. That on its own isn’t new – just about everyone wants to tap into India’s growing middle class. But in doing so, RAK could chip away at Dubai’s largest source market.

Ras Al Khaimah brought in 618,600 tourists in the first half of this year, up 3.4% year-on-year. India was the number 6 source market: 4% of those travelers came from India, or 12,582.

Speaking Thursday on local UAE radio Dubai Eye, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority chief Raki Phillips said India has immense potential, as does wider Asia.
