Spurs play Eintracht Frankfurt tonight in what is a must win for Ange and his future as Tottenham Hotspur manager. Defeat this evening will surely be the end for the Aussie.
Postecoglou confirmed that Sonny was left back in London nursing a foot injury that he’s apparently been playing through for a couple of weeks.
Dejan Kulusevski, who made a brief cameo near the end of Spurs’ loss to Wolves at the weekend, will likely feature at some point but is unlikely to start.
Apart from our Captain Son, Spurs should be strong and if they cannot raise the bar for this one, it's game over for Ange at the helm.
Why have Spurs been so terrible and unable to be up for games for such a long period?
Tottenham are not set up to win trophies on an industrial scale, now or in the future, and so to an extent the job of any Spurs manager is to find the joy in the game, to reconnect with the fans and also with the process of winning consistently, rather than fixate on the ends. If Tottenham can continue to the semi-finals of the Europa League the trophy is still there to be won.
Postecoglou seems to come across with an argumentative and excuse riddled demeanour after games, but this is a situation he has created by being one dimensional and stubborn. When you detach your project so thoroughly from results, you don’t get to act surprised when fans start to do the same.
I hope we can get through this one but it will not be easy, but as Ange has said previously - anything worth doing is tough. come on lads, pull your fingers out and give us something to smile about.
