Finished Black Doves this evening.

This is an interesting role for Keira Knightly, allowing Keira to explore a different side to her career. She swaps swanning around in posh frocks, for a bad ass spy and a mother with an appetite for adultery.

Q himself turns up trying not to sound like Paddington. Ben Whishaw has grown a beard so his face now screams
I'm a trigger man.
In fact just in case you didn't know he's a Trigger Man. Did I mention he's a Trigger Man. He really should mention that. Actually all that time hanging around with Bond has paid off as he is quite plausible as Knightly's emotional support assassin.
He's also at great pains to show he is Gay. Black Doves is possibly the most mainstream show I've seen that is totally comfortable with any form of sexuality

Black Doves portrays a version of London where everyone greets a stranger with two questions ..
The first how are you?
The second..what do you do for a living?,
and then having gained such information it seems customary to simply walk off.

The Black Doves are generic spies for hire, with a speciality for government secrets. The reality is, in an attempt to keep the organisation mysterious they have no character development and you could slot in any master spy organisation (imf) (Charlie's Angel's) and it would make little difference.

Sarah Lancashire is on hand channelling her inner Dame Judy Dentch. Stoically barking orders at her agents whilst simply standing, staring somewhere in the middle distance.

The plot of Black Doves isn't something revolutionary either. It's your typical spy needs to obtain hidden camera footage whilst avoiding all sorts of perils and finding out what OCG is involved type of plot.

All that said Black Doves is a huge amount fun. It's got a ton of black comedy mixed with a good amount of action. Knightly and Whishaw are a joy to watch. The effects are spot on and the music seems to be directly inspired by Slow Horses. Despite a plot that never really settles on what the Chinese threat actually is other than the Chinese like the word Consequences , Netflix keeps the viewer engaged for each episode . That's the sign of a great binge-worthy series.

I am feeling quite proud this today!

Over the last 18 months the website has received 2.4 million impressions on Google search!!!

That figure again.... 2.4 million impressions.

Wooww, considering I run the site in my spare time with zero budget, no advertising and I am self taught, I find that figure astonishing. To think that my writing has been available to so many people is mind boggling.

Thank you Google.
... If only I had a quid for every search appearance 🤣

With the news that the Bear Grylls Adventure is set to close.

We've dusted if our very first review..it's erm..about the Bear Grylls Adventure and we are not surprised it's closing,.stating

''If you take away all the Bear Grylls promotion, and the heavy theming you are left with a building that houses lots of fitness activities. Merlin has basically reinvented the leisure centre and put a premium on the price.'

NOW have finally rolled out 4k and ATMOS, via an add-on called Ultra Boost.

Good news, for anyone with an active boost add on deal, the upgrade has been applied foc. For everyone else NOW wants £9. Extra a month.

This seems to have been active for about three weeks, and just in time for the footy season, although we are looking forward to watching some ATMOS enabled films!
