One year ago today, our beloved Prem Khosla left us.

Prembhai was the founder of Sanskar Radio. It was his dream and determination that made Sanskar Radio what it is today. Prembhai’s intention was to create a way everybody felt they had a mandir in their own home, even when they were not able to visit one. He worked tremendously hard to establish Sanskar Radio and carry it forward for more and more communities to enjoy.

There were many instances where Prembhai’s kindness was so clearly seen.
One of his famous lines was “The show must go on!” Even though he lived quite far from the radio station, Prembhai often stepped up to cover shows if an emergency came about. He was insistent, on doing his duty no matter what!
Prembhai was Hindu-Punjabi and knew only a few Gujarati words, but he never failed to thank his listeners by saying “tamaro ghano ghano aabhar.” (Which means, thank you very much.)

Prembhai will also be loved and adored to all of us. For everything he has done for our community, he will always be a great role model for us. He made Sanskar Radio into more than a just a radio show. It became a family, for both presenters and listeners. He united us in a way nobody else had.
If it wasn’t for him, his hard work and dedication, Sanskar Radio would not be what it is today.

We hope we can continue his beliefs and practices in the future and keep Sanskar Radio growing for years to come.

Sanskar Radio is the UK’s first voluntary Hindu radio station. We are based in Leicester broadcast from Sabras Radio House. Our team of 30? Volunteers, including 10 committee members and 20 presenters help keep Sanskar Radio airing 24 hours a day. We have a live airtime of 18 hours every day. You can tune in to listen on DAB digital Radio and from our website www.sanskarradio.com.

Our radio programmes are based on Hindu cultural, social and religious values. Each programme aims to broaden our listeners knowledge and understanding of the Hinduism. We try to appeal to all members of the community including young children and our elders. Shows feature all types of Hindu religious music, in a variety of languages including Gujarati and Hindi. Each presenter creates their own segments and brings with them invaluable insight of the Hindu faith via teachings, conversation and discussions.

Sanskar Radio is a part of the Sabras Radio family, adding to the variety of programmes that are already on offer. The aim of Sanskar Radio is to raise cultural, social, religious, educational and economical awareness among Hindu listeners through programme production. Thirty two people are involved...
