Travelling around Sicily has never been easier! 🍋
{Save this post for your future Italian getaway!}
We’ve put together a mini-guide on how to travel around the island without it costing a lot! Find the details below 👇🏽
🚗 Renting a Car: Having a car makes traveling around the island flexible and gives access to more remote areas.
From €5 a day, you can rent a Fiat Panda for this price! It’s around €15 when you add insurance to it. We found the Fiat very reliable as most are hybrids and you can rent from Catania Airport.
🚌 Public Transport: You can get trains or buses but these are only on the popular routes and take a long time.
We would only recommend if you cannot drive as it takes too much of your time.
🍝 Activities & Experiences: The best way to truly learn about the area you’re in and about the culture is to book an experience.
Our favourite way to find experiences is through @getyourguide 🍋 With over 816 activities in Sicily on their website, you’ll definitely find something that suites your interests!
🗺️ Recommend Route: From Catania Airport, consider a circular route: Catania - Syracuse - Noto - Ragusa - Modica - Agrigento - Palermo - Cefalù - Taormina - Catania.
We personally love this itinerary as it covers historical sites, charming towns, and scenic landscapes. However, ensure flexibility based on your interests and the time you have available.
🏨 Accommodation: We stayed in hotels during our travels around Sicily. Our recommended apps for booking hotels include @hotelsdotcom @bookingcom @agoda
We looked over the 3 of these apps to find the best deals and most of them you can book on the day or night before! This is the best way for flexibility.
We hope this mini guide helps you on your journey around the beautiful island of Sicily 🍋

How To Avoid Getting Scammed Whilst Travelling
📌 Save to avoid scam tricks!
1. Research your destination in advance 📚
Educate yourself on common scams in that area & what typical prices are there.
2. Visiting during low season 📅
Scammers normally only operate during peak tourist times of the year.
3. Skip tourist traps 🏛️
Attractions are always a hot spot for scammers due to the volume of tourists going.
4. Go to locals restaurants 🍝
The locals always know the best food and prices in the area you’re in! These are usually in the less touristy parts.
5. Seek local advice 🗺️
Ask the staff at your accommodation for recommendations.
6. Trust your instincts ✨
You can normally tell if your gut instinct doesn’t feel right. They are always correct so walk away or say you are busy.
