Old versus new at West Kirby station.
As Merseyrail begins to phase out the old trains, they have repainted the first unit delivered back in 1978 in its original livery.
Unit 507 001 was the train Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II rode on to officially unveil the Liverpool loop.
The colour scheme isn’t exactly the same, as the doors have had to be painted a different colour to assist partially sighted customers.
A world of discovery awaits at upcoming Birkenhead School Open Events.

Tide at Hilbre Island

To coincide with spring tides this weekend, the lifesaving charity has revealed the results of a new study showing that 15% of people in the north west reported to have been cut off by the tide.
They’ve also released a video showing how quickly the tide can turn at Hilbre Island.
