VUDIO TECHNOILOGIES has announced the launch of Vudio 2.0, a cloud-based radio management software solution.

Vudio 2.0 is designed to simplify radio station operations, with modules for music scheduling, programme content, traffic, CRM, web/app CMS and event planning. A key feature is the asynchronous station splits, which allows stations to regionally tailor broadcasts, mixing station-wide and localised content with independent timings. This also enables custom ad' breaks and differing stations sound elements.

Edison Research will present their INFINITE DIAL report for 2025 on the 20th March with support from three of the US's largest radio station operators (Cumulus, Audacy and SiriusXM). It's America’s longest-running survey of digital media consumer behaviour, tracked annually since 1998. A very sad day, having learned of the passing of ILR engineer BRUCE DAVIDSON. He was only 60 years old. He began his radio career in his home town of Newcastle in the 80s, with Metro, Minster and Chrysalis. Bruce led engineering teams at Bauer and Global. He was in the middle of moving back to his beloved Geordie-land after retiring.

50 kilowatt 'Classic Rock' blaster The Shark is now using the Super Hi-Fi Cloud based system. Tampa Bay's leading rocker now uses the Super Hi-Fi platform for all audio routing, enabling the entire operation to be controlled from a laptop anywhere in the world. "Humans program the music and host our shows," explains CEO Caroline Beasley, "but Super Hi-Fi’s AI-enabled cloud-based system carries the programming, management, voice-tracking, updating and delivery workflow, streamlining operations and preparing us for the future."

44 years ago that Radio Tay launched in Dundee (using transmitters across the River in Fife). Sadly the big new voice from Isla Street (where Mark Goodier honed his craft) has been sold off to a German group, who now think Dundee and Perth are worth only one show a day - and that hosted in Edinburgh! Surely Scotland's third city deserves better?

Dutch station 100%NL moves today from its base at Naarden (the old RNI base) to the new Mediahuis complex in Amsterdam. 100%NL will soon be followed by her sister stations: Slam! Sublime and Veronica. Our congratulations to Herbie Visser and all his team.

A very Happy Birthday to Jake, Sue , Ellen and all the team at WNYC in New York today - 100 yers old. What an amazing milestone for the NPR station in Municipal Building on Hudson Square. Still pounding out on 820AM (and some FMs too plus Sirius). One of the real nuggets of the New York broadcast scene.

BE are bringing their long awaited MDCL+ to market which can save tens of thousands a year in power costs on all makes of transmitter. It reduces power when mod' is louder and vice versa. The louder program content masks the added noise. It needs careful adjustment, which any good consulting engineer will get right. Up to 50% of power bills is claimed , and it takes only half a rack with no effect your coverage.

58 years ago this afternoon, RADIO 270 began programmes from off Scarborough. Roger Gale, the outgoing MP for Herne Bay, played the first record - Wild Thing, by The Troggs. Taylor Swift is getting her own national DAB station, also available ONLINE to mobile & speakers, etc, to celebrate the UK legs of her 132 date tour. It gives Swifties, the chance to listen to their favourite artist all-day, every-day. It’s the first time in the UK that a national station has been dedicated to a single artist, although Bothe Caroline and Laser did long periods of testing with all-Beatles music.
Will YOU be tuning in? Could you stand hearing any artist all day long?

Radio listeners in France can enjoy VIRGIN RADIO once again with the licence to use the name being taken up by Espace, who have replaced their VIRAGE ROCK network with it. It's on DAB+ and in most major cities and ONLINE everywhere. They use the same licensing agreement as in other countries to exploit the Virgin brand, with local operators marketing and programming the station, which also has fourteen subsidiary outlets including CLASSIQUE ROCK. Ooo La La!

It seems that I've become a museum piece! Some friends just spotted me at a Radio Caroline exhibit in the Cotswold Motor Museum. I love that sign - "Do not touch the DJ"!. So is that what happens when old DJs retire?
