Sunday morning at Sandiacre Lock on the Erewash Canal in Derbyshire. Boaters, cyclists and dog walkers enjoyed the sunshine, many taking the opportunity to pop into Sandiacre Lock Cottage where volunteers from the Erewash Canal Preservation & Development Association showed visitors round and served tea, cakes and other refreshments. The first clip is Sunday morning at Braunston. The bells from All Saints Church – known as the Cathedral of the Canals – ring out while people are busy polishing their boats etc ready for the parade. The church’s Sunday service is held on the Marina point, Daventry Brass play the music for the hymns and the service was led this year by the Rev Rob Rogers. The clip of the 2 narrowboats is the opening ceremony on Saturday of the Braunston Historic Boat Rally for 2022. Timothy West is in the lead boat – Nutfield towing the butty Raymond in which seated at the back is Prunella Scales. Daventry Brass are playing Happy Birthday to celebrate Pru’s 90th birthday. As is the custom, the two boats have turned in to Braunston Marina under its famous Horseley Iron Bridge from the Grand Union Canal and lead the first historic boat parade over the weekend. After going through the marina the boats turn back on to the Grand Union Canal and back past the marina to Braunston Turn where the canal meets the Oxford Canal before turning again and heading back. #towpathtalk #braunston
