VIDEO: Abuja Airport shuts after Aerocontractors airplane runway incursion
The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja has been forced to close temporarily due to a runway incursion involving an Aerocontractors Airlines Boeing 737 airplane.
The airplane, bearing the Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-BYQ, encountered difficulties upon landing from Lagos at approximately 10:47 am local time on Sunday.
Attempts to exit the runway via A4 led to the nose wheel becoming lodged in the grass verge, resulting in the fuselage partially obstructing the runway.
At present, no estimated timeframe for the runway's availability has been disclosed.
They said despite the severity of the incident, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Airlines operating to and from Abuja are expected to experience significant delays, with some opting to return to their departure points.
He conveyed the need for additional time to gather more information on the matter
The Bureau is actively working to unravel the details surrounding the runway incursion.
The NSIB noted in the statement that it encourages the public to share pertinent information, such as pictures, videos, or recordings, to aid in a thorough investigation.

VIDEO: Policemen Disarm Civil Defence Officers On Election Duty In Imo
A Civil Defence Officer has claimed that some armed policemen led by the Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Imo State governor, Chinasa Nwaneri, attacked officials of Nigeria Civil Defence Corps on election duties in the state.
This happened at Obinocha Nkwere Local Government Area of Imo state.
The aggrieved officer disclosed this in a video captured by our correspondent.
In the video, one of the Civil Defence officer, name withheld, lamented that the police officers took away his AK-47 riffle magazines and phone.
The officer further said that the Divisional officer of Civil Defence was beaten and his clothes and phones were taken from him.
The officer said, "The Divisional officer of Civil Defence in Nkwere, they tore his cloth and took his phone.
"They took my double magazines containing 40 rounds, we breach them because they were going inside with weapons with the person that came with them Chinasa Nwaneri was inside armor tang.
"They send kill and bury men to come and destroy this place, but we were able to uphold them".

A video has surfaced online showing members of the Nigeria Labour Congress blocking the entrance to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, preventing many Nigerians and air travellers from accessing the area.
The video surfaced on X Thursday, showing scores of vehicles conveying stranded air passengers parked some kilometres from the airport entrance gate.
The gathering of the organised Nigeria Labour Congress is to enforce their directive to members working in the aviation sector to stop all flights to Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The Nigeria Labour Congress has also declared a nationwide strike starting on Tuesday, November 14.

Croatia’s foreign prime ministe, Gordan Grlic Radman, 65, has been making the rounds on social media after a video surfaced showing how he was caught trying to kiss his German counterpart during a group photo Thursday.
In the video, Radman, reached out to shake Annalena Baerbock’s hand and leaned in for her lips during a photo shoot for the European Union conference in Berlin.

Netizens have criticized the outcome, by saying it is 'sexual harassment', while some are supporting Radman, in the comment section saying there's nothing wrong with it.

[VIDEO] Traffic Disruption: Lagos Commissioner, Others Visit Berger, Commercial Vehicles Seized
The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation led by its commissioner, Seun Osiyemi; special adviser, Sola Giwa; and the permanent secretary, Wale Musa visited Berger over the disruption of traffic flow caused by drivers.
The ministry noted that their previous visit had a low rate of compliance which necessitated a second visit with stronger enforcement.
The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor, Jubril Gawat, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
The post disclosed that the commissioner assured Lagosians that the enforcement will continue until full compliance is carried out.
Gawat's tweet read, "The Full Squad of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation led by Commissioner, Hon. Seun Osiyemi, Special Adviser, Hon. Sola Giwa and the Permanent Secretary, Mr Wale Musa once again stormed Berger bus stop and environs, where commercial vehicle drivers park recklessly at laybys, bridges and expressway which have constantly disrupted traffic flow.
"After visiting for the first time, the level of compliance was very low, which necessitated a second and stronger visit/enforcement. A lot of commercial vehicles were arrested.
"The Commissioner and Special Adviser assured Lagosians and the commercial bus drivers that the enforcement operation will continue until full compliance is done."

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully contained a fire incident that affected a two-story building at 54, Dosunmu Street, within the bustling Lagos Market on Lagos Island.
This was disclosed by The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, October 29.
In the video men of The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service team could be seen restraining the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
Margaret Adeseye, director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said that no casualties or injuries were recorded in the fire.
The incident destroyed many goods and properties belonging to business owners, and the total cost of the affected items is yet to be determined.
