Shoot-edit has been working with Professor Andrew Bateman and Caroline Bald, a social work lecturer at the University of Essex.

Teamed-up with the Packing Shed Theatre, they have developed a stage play which is now being employed to educate social care students about the effects of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs).

“Making Headway” is a stage play which aims to sweep away myths and preconceptions about people who are sometimes dismissed as “that nutter on the bus.” The circumstances behind the behaviour of people who have experienced Traumatic Brain Injuries are complicated and sometimes heartbreaking.

Shoot-edit was invited to the premiere and collect the thoughts of staff and students.

Bleeding Brilliant!

Shoot-edit went to meet British cycling superstar Alex Dowsett with BBC Sport reporter Tom Williams. Alex is shedding blood sweat and tears for “Little Bleeders”, a charity he set up to support young haemophiliacs. Alex and fiancée Chanel are running the London Marathon to raise awareness of the condition where blood in the body is missing a vital ingredient which means blood doesn’t clot. This can limit the types of activity which those with the condition can take part in including contact sports.

Yesterday shoot-edit was in Epping with reporter Zoie O’Brien. It was the scene of a jewellery robbery back in September 2021 where two brothers dressed-up as elderly men, wearing prosthetic masks and clothing typical of the older generation, gained access to a jewellers in the main shopping street in Epping.

They threatened staff with a knife and an axe and escaped with a valuable Rolex watch. It has never been recovered but the brothers have been sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison for their crimes.

This week shoot-edit has been working with Senior Look East journalist Debbie Tubby. She has been talking to an Essex businesswoman who was scammed by a man on a dating app. He was in fact scamming four women at the same time. In this scam unlike many, he met victims face to face. Emmanuel Scotts is married. He conned his victims out of more than £300,000. He’s now been sentenced to 12 years in jail.

It’s nearly two thousand years since the town first became a city under Roman Emperor Claudius.

Colchester is one of eight cities created by the late Queen Elizabeth II as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Their most recent product development means that existing Evaporative Cooling systems can be retro-fitted with UVC air scrubbing systems which can leave any air circulating through ventilation systems free from viruses and bacteria. The aim is to reduce infection spread. This is welcome in any areas where large numbers of people gather. Infection reduction in clinical settings is essential but the system also offers business the opportunity to reduce loss of productivity through sick leave absence.
