Each day is a privilege that we're struggling to appreciate. I've started to strip back things that make me feel unhappy... When I came back to work, I didn't feel OK, I felt grief, loss, a lack of purpose in life, I was feeling and questioning it all. Walking into the office felt like a mine was under foot, I was frozen. I didn't want to be there or to act OK. Everyone told me I needed normality, but life wasn't normal anymore. Sitting in meetings listening to problems that I no longer cared about, inside I knew I HAD TO GET OUT. What was I doing still here in this job? What could I do that lights me up? I can't just move to yet another office job. How do you find your purpose & passion when you feel so low in life? I paid attention to what started landing in front of me. I tried to start trusting the universe a little! My Instagram feed, books, and people, I started opening my mind to "signs". Listening to podcasts where normal people were being interviewed, sharing how they created online business that had blown up. I also landed on a @simonsquibb post as he repeatedly told us that we didn't need money to start a business. You just need to fix someone problem! I kept seeing people make money from IG. They had their own life experiences that brought them there: DIY, photography, art, fitness, life coaches etc I found this all helpful, and I enjoyed content like this. I learnt as much as I could before I invested myself - I brought a course and got braver here! Here we are. Maybe I'm your sign to build a business that lights you up? At 29, I'd planned a solo trip to Italy for my 30th, all before I met my then boyfriend. He wanted me to cancel it. He needed me where he could control me, so touring around with a group of older strangers sent him into overdrive. He vetted my wardrobe, I hid that bikini and refused any photos of me in it! The punishment continued whilst away. Putting on a happy face which I did so well, I did my nightly video call so he could see me. I was late for that call, it didn't go well. Mortified as I went back into the room, the group were silent. They had heard it all. Suppressing my feelings became the norm, but when someone sits down and tells you from only a week of knowing you, who you are as a person and what you deserve - it was like the spell had been broken. My defence was always that he loved me. Seeking love and having a family, I stayed where I didn't belong. The emotional and mental abuse I went through, caused me to stop seeing my family and friends I did go home after that trip and found my voice, my worth, and the courage to end it.  I'm realising that in life, when something doesn't feel right, I stay because I'm scared to be worthy of success? To have the things in life I truly deserve or lights me up. Who am I with an abundance of money and love? How many people just like you and I find success and happiness? Well, actually, TONNES! Five months ago, I began sharing my story online, refusing to settle for less any more. I invested in education, learning the skills I needed to succeed online. Sick of the same shhhhhhit, different day? Me too. Imagine the relief when my boss said I was being made redundant last week! I was sitting there feeling pleased that I'd started the ball rolling and completed my digital marketing course back in Jan. Learning something new builds confidence and security for what the future looks like... this isn't an overnight future business, but one to certainly work towards. As my experience grows, so do the opportunities. I found myself bagging interviews within marketing. This will only strengthen my knowledge for my own business in the near future, but in only 3 months, I've had new opportunities! Here's some tips to you all... explained in "dating terms"... LET'S GO! 1) This wasn't going to mean I could quit overnight! The first date method: If you went on a blind date and they asked you to marry them in the first sentence, you'd probably run for the nearest exit, right? You need to treat your potential customers the same way. 2) I had to build my knowledge, build my brand, and build trust. Second date: Enjoy the time, get to know them, find out what they need, and let them decide if they'd be up for seeing you again. That is how you build a sales trust funnel. 3) Get it ON: Oh, you know what date 3 is all about you, rascals. People don't buy from people they don't trust, and we don't just "give it away." So if you're immediately sending them a link and saying "pick me! Buy this!" ...they're probably going to be turned off and go elsewhere. Don't hard sell in your business, just be yourselves, and people will remember how you make them FEEL. Build those relationships first! Something I really loved about this course, and one of my main takeaways, we're taught to show up for others, how to be useful, give value... a sale is just a bonus! Show up as yourself - warts and all. The "Noise": Lovely homes, fashionable attire, salary of your dreams... not to mention the perfect family. ...social media is LOUD about success, but actually, we relate far more to the struggle. I'm here because I've failed a lot. I'm attracted to accounts and companies that show their failures. My own setbacks have given me FAR more confidence to "try again" than success ever has. My life on my 57ft boat, is MY reality. I run out of water, power, diesel, and coal on the daily. I don't even own a washing machine. But I'm here showing you that your situation doesn't predict your success here, but your willingness to show up regardless does. Don't hide your journey, share where you've come from, bring your followers along that journey with you. 🩷 1. Embrace authenticity: Share the real, raw moments of your journey. People connect with genuine challenges more than perfection. 2. Focus on value: Offer your audience something meaningful, whether it's knowledge, inspiration, or entertainment. Your real experience wins. 3. Connect with your community: Engage, respond, and build genuine relationships. It's about building a tribe, not just a following. 🫶 4. Set boundaries: Don't let social media consume your life. Schedule time for posting and engaging, but also prioritise real-life connections and self-care. (Tough one at the start!) 5. Stay true to your mission: Remember why you started your business or brand. Let your purpose guide your content and decisions, even in the midst of the noise. If you're not where you want to be right now, GOOD. Now is the perfect time to start. Your honest, real, relatable story is where your success is at. Don't spend life wondering of what life could've been like... Spending your life working 40 hr weeks? I have almost 30+ years of working to go in order to retire to live the life I want - that's so overwhelming. Do you feel stuck too? I felt like a hamster in a wheel living the same day over and over. Going through the motions with no spark in my eyes or fire in my soul. I knew I wanted more... I needed more! I didn't know how to start my escape having tried and failed at businesses that just didn't align with what I wanted from life.... time, low stress, enough money to feel secure. To stay in that job that you don't feel fulfilled in though, is a waste of time = life. 'The people are nice though', 'I get some days at home', 'I need security' ...we stay stuck with that talk. Can you relate? I could go on about why my situation made me wake up. But I also didn't want a business either that I felt too busy and overwhelmed in! So, I stepped into the unknown world of digital marketing. What was this all about, the world seemed to be making money from digital products, I just didn't get how it worked and if I could do it?! I was afraid of being judged. The insecurities of a woman... I had many excuses that I'm not the weight I wanted to be any more, so how can I show up on camera? Negative self talk of not being an influencer, just an average woman in her 30s (just!). The imposter... I'm not sure how should I teach people what I've learnt from my experiences, how to explain why learning digital marketing is going to help you make money from your passions for years to come. False start... You tell yourself it won't ever work for you like it has for others. It's hard showing up here and starting Expenses... The biggest expense is your time and energy... YES you do have to get educated, it's going to mean you work at your own success. But, you'll learn free platforms to use to keep costs low, including Instagram! You have to put aside the fear of starting.
