Unique, personalised cakes! You dream it, I make it . I am based in Bedfordshire, England It was a Little Einstein's birthday cake for my daughter. I was hooked!

Not many people can say they really love their job, however I can and I do! I have tried all sorts of creative avenues and finally realised a passion for cake decorating in February 2009 when I made my first memorable cake. I was so pleased with my rather amateur butter cream covered cake, with a handmade glittered fondant rocket set upon the top! I then started baking cupcakes for colleagues at t

he office, getting more adventurous with each batch, making new decorations, trying new colours and generally having fun! By May I had my first paid order. In June I made my mum's 50th Birthday cake which I decorated with hand painted shells and little sugar pearls. She loved it so much she couldn't bring herself to cut it for 3 days! The little shells were eventually gently picked off with a knife and stored safely away before cutting the cake. It gave me such a sense of joy to give something to my mum that came solely from me, which I created from scratch. By the end of 2009, I had made 70 cakes to order, and with each new order came a new feeling of excitement. My mind would start whizzing with ideas. I talked about cakes all the time and just wanted to be home baking. I would sit in the office trying to work but my mind was crafting my next creation. I quit my job and was self employed just 8 short months after making my first paid cake! I see my customers' joy at being given a cake that they have ordered for someone they love, a cake design that they have chosen which reflects something of that person, a cake that is so personal and I know it's really going to mean so much to the person receiving it, because it is theirs and it has been uniquely made for them, and them alone. I have taught myself everything I know about cakes from books, the internet and some fantastic tips and guidance from a really good friend. I continue to develop my talent and my business and I am so proud of the work I do. I cannot describe the joy inside me when I show someone their cake for the first time.

2010 has been an amazing year for me, and I feel I just keep going from strength to strength. I count myself as one of the lucky few in this world to be doing something in my life that I am so passionate about and that makes other people so happy. I have had amazing support, belief and encouragement from my husband, my eldest daughter (my best critic!), my youngest daughter (born in July this year) my wonderful family and my friends. I wouldn't have got this far without them all.

Good morning everyone!

Haven’t got anything to share cake wise at the moment as I have taken on a job over the festive season (for the festive season) …. I am LOVING it! After doing cakes only from home for 15 years, it’s so good to be out the house, mingling with fellow colleagues and just having a little break from cakes and running these little feet off from start to finish (my daily step count is impressive!)

So I thought I would share this video of our little ‘toddler’ dog who is being a bit of a menace! We only put the tree up yesterday and he keeps pulling baubles off to play with! It’s driving us crazy, he’s just over a year old and his name is Barli . It’s going to be a long few weeks in the run up to Christmas, trying to save the babbles and redress the tree.

This year Thalia wanted an art themed drip cake. So this is what I created for her. I was so happy with how the coloured drip worked and how it all came together and Thalia was so happy when she saw it. The easel is wooden and not edible and the canvas is made from edible modelling paste. I have Thalia a set of edible gel paints and a brush so she could paint on the canvas.

I loved making this baby shark themed cake for twins turning 2 this week, the whole shake family on the cake and a character of Bebefinn holding 2 baby sharks in his hands.

Special 18th birthday, celebration cake. My customer supplied the miniature alcohol and disco balls for me to add and the rest is hand made by me. My customer wanted a Malibu/tropical theme with gold and hibiscus flowers and ombre pink cakes.

It was a busy week last week. This is my first cake to share from the week and it was made for a young man who loves fishing. I made his 21st birthday cake 9 years ago, although I didn’t realise it was the same person as his fiancée ordered it for him. My customer supplied the amazing art work for the top of the cake, which I printed on an edible icing sheet and the colours and design were just lovely! Then I made some cutters in the shape of the fish they wanted around the cake and they were hand painted copying photos they sent me of some fish and their names on edible print underneath the fish. My daughter Hayley (14) helped me with painting them as she’s so very good at painting so she spent a few hours working on them with me. The cat missy was added too, being curious, peering over the top of the cake. Loved making something so very different from my usual designs and love how it turned out for my customer.
