One of the things I love to do is to introduce people to meditation. It may be easy for a dedicated Zennie to sit for ages and enjoy the experience, but many people find it very uncomfortable to be inside their own head with no distractions.
I don’t see this as any kind of failing, it’s not a competition, we are all where we are and that’s fine.
Yesterday was a yoga day. A day of joining with others and sharing physical practice, but after all the buzz of lunch and laughter we came upstairs to sit quietly…just for 20mins. It may well have been the first time some of those people had ever meditated. It was informal, no pressure, no rules, just sit. Calm the body, calm the mind. It’s my hope that this gentle positive experience of meditation will encourage them to explore it further, whether at home or with my Zen group at YogaFeeling Either way it’s a privilege to bring meditation into people’s lives.
