Game Day!

This afternoon we kick off our last preseason friendly against Hartlepool BBOB RFC. The weather is looking great and it’s set to be a great fixture so be sure to come down and support the lads.

Today our Men’s 2/3s face Sunderland 2/3s at Mayfield Park in our final warm up game ahead of the new season.

We’ll also be showing England v Fiji followed by Pools v Fylde live on the big screen.

Here’s a look at your squad for this Saturdays fixture against our friends Hartlepool BBOB RFC

There’s the welcomed sight of Sam Johnson and Joel Hannon coming into the squad making their debuts. There’s also some slight changes in the backs with Owen Close finding himself slotting in at Scrum-half with Ben Stockdale moving to Fullback. After suffering an injury early last season we’re glad to see the much anticipated return of Andy Robson.

Hornby Park would also like to welcome people to the club to enjoy the Charity Football match. Along side the live bands, bouncy castles and much more so be sure to bring the family down.

This will also be the first game in which we play in our fresh new strip. So we’d like to say thank you to our sponsors.

GAME DAY!

Tomorrow we make the short journey across Hartlepool to play our last preseason friendly against our friends at Seaton Carew RUFC.

Coach Clayton is unavailable so captain Corkin will once again be leading the squad at Hornby Park. Clayton isn’t the only miss though, Brigade are missing no less than 12 regulars through injury, work, weddings, holidays, and commitments at Twickenham. However, Corkin still takes a strong 20 man squad to Sunny Seaton.

Kick off is 14:00 however there is a lot going at at Seaton tomorrow, including a charity football match and a food/drink stall, so get there early to get a parking space and sample the atmosphere before a cracking rugby game.

Players are asked to meet at The Cosmopolitan Hotel for 12:30 or meet at Seaton for 13:00.

The game gets underway at 7.30pm on the bottom pitch.

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Amber Oliphant who joins up with our Women’s squad.

A familiar face around these parts, she recently moved back to the town from Surrey where she played for Farnham Rugby Club.

Hartlepool Backs Coach, Rory Craig, said: “Amber is a great addition to the squad who strengthens our backline. We’re delighted to have her on board and can’t wait to see her on the pitch this season.”

The teams are out for tonight’s eagerly anticipated inter-club fixture.

It goes to show how strong of a position the club is currently in when we are able to name 29 players on a Tuesday night for an inter club game.

It is not too late to cry on if you are wanting to play. Kick off is at at 1900 with the changing rooms open from 1800 for all players.

*INTER-CLUB GAME DAY*

Tomorrow the club are hosting an inter-club game instead of our usual training.

This gives Coach Clayton the opportunity to give more minutes to the newer players in the squad and to see how the lads are developing as we come towards the end of pre-season.

We visit our friends at Seaton Carew RUFC on Saturday for our last preseason fixture and the game tomorrow gives players the opportunity to earn a spot in the starting XV on Saturday.

We are asking all players to be ready to kick off at 1900. Changing rooms will be open from 1800. This game is all in house and club chairman Jonny Starrs will be pulling on the gaffers shirt to referee.
