Christmas video 2024
Trying to find inspiration in this mixed up world for our fun Christmas video in 2024 was a real challenge until the Jaguar advert came to the rescue.
If you haven’t seen the Jaguar advert, then only 50% of this already short video will make sense!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2025.

How do you win the hearts and minds of your employees with a new initiative... and prevent it from falling on stony ground?

Think of it another way, if the initiative is THAT important, it needs to be promoted, it needs to be “sold” to your workforce.

There is one important tool that many overlook... video. A short well-structured introduction video can be one of the best selling-tools out there.

For many years I have been helping companies win the hearts and minds of their employees through bespoke animated videos. And before you switch off and say animated videos are for kids, think again!

The videos I produce are often between 2 ½ -4 ½ minutes long, are easy to understand and do not dumb down the content. They employ a variety of fascinating techniques to maintain interest, engage the audience and pull the initiative through rather than requiring brute force to push it through (and risk losing buy-in). And because they are animated, they can help explain abstract concepts as well as feelings and don’t rely on actors or employees who may move on.

An i-presentations animated video is short and versatile, it can be used at launch meetings and on your intranet as well as being sent in emails for post-launch reinforcement... meaning it can actively promote your initiative 24/7.

So if you’re looking for a great way to win the hearts and minds of your employees just nip over to www.i-presentations.co.uk and get in touch.

I’m celebrating 25 years of i-presentations this month! From pioneering PowerPoint animations in 1999 to today's dynamic landscape, the evolution is remarkable.

Back then, live presentations and VHS/DVD videos were the norm. Expensive video production limited updates, making corporate videos static.

Fast forward 25 years, and the internet has transformed, from dial-up to broadband. The iPhone, Android, and iPad unleashed a wave of handheld devices, revolutionising video sharing. Platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, and social media have embraced short videos, expanding business presentations from training rooms to remote workspaces.

I've stayed true to my core skill... transforming dull topics into
accessible video content for presentations, training, websites, and social media. In the era of remote work, video content has become essential for companies reaching customers and internal training.

The journey from static presentations to dynamic videos reflects a quarter-century of adapting to technological shifts. Cheers to the next wave!

T'is really the night before Christmas...

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!

Here is first part of T'was the Night Before Christmas with all drawings especially created for this video.

If you are not sure, the text is...
"T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, Not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St.Nicholas soon would be there;"

The text is taken from a poem originally published on Dec. 23, 1823 in the Troy Sentinel newspaper in upstate New York. It was first titled "A Visit from St. Nicholas", but is more commonly known as The Night Before Christmas and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas from its first line.

The poem was first published anonymously under the title Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas in 1823 and later attributed to Clement Clarke Moore, who claimed authorship in 1837.

i-presentations has just finished working with Abt Associates to create a short hand-drawn explainer video for PMI (US President's Malaria Initiative) to highlight the threat to the people of Africa from the Anopheles stephensi mosquito, an invasive Asian mosquito which has been rapidly spreading across Africa since 2012!
The video project required both English and French versions, complete with subtitles. The video needed to be informative and engaging to watch, so various visual techniques were used to highlight the key points of the script and make them easy to understand quickly.
On Sunday 20th August it is World Mosquito day! No, not a day to celebrate mosquitoes, but a day to celebrate the discovery by British doctor Sir Ronald Ross, of the connection between malaria and female anopheline mosquitoes in 1897. That discovery meant that scientists around the world could focus on tackling the root cause of malaria, and develop effective insecticides and treatments to help control its spread.
World Mosquito Day helps raise awareness about the ongoing threat of malaria and other deadly diseases transmitted by the mosquito.

Addressing the threat of Anopheles stephensi video... in French!

Having completed the English language video about the spread of Anopheles Stephensi mosquitoes across sub-Saharan Africa. I then worked with Abt Associates to create another version of their video for PMI (US President's Malaria Initiative) - in French.

To create the French language version I needed to work with the French voice-over and script which was about 23% longer than the English version. Due to the additional length, the whole video, including animations, had to be edited to lengthen it, whilst still maintaining the on-screen co-ordination between the visuals and the narration. In addition, all the on-screen text had to be translated (including the animated country flags which had to show the correct French spelling). And finally, when the video was finished, French sub-titles were added. The result – a proper French video, not just a quick re-dub!

So why French? In sub-Saharan Africa malaria is a huge problem. French is the official language in the following sub-Saharan African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, the Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, the Seychelles, and Togo.

20th August is World Mosquito Day... a day to help raise awareness about the ongoing threat of malaria and other deadly diseases transmitted by the mosquito.

Like any video or presentation, the timing of voice and supporting visuals is important for maximum effect. In this short clip, James Burke during his BBC TV series Connections, timed this shot absolutely perfectly to get his point across. This is real, it is not green screened! Imagine the result of this shot if the rocket had launched 1 or 2 seconds later or earlier.

When I create animated business videos for clients, I always explain that great care is taken to ensure the visuals support the voice-over for maximum effect. They can't come in too early or too late otherwise it can cause disconnect, confusion or annoyance to the audience.

James Burke hits his mark with perfect timing, in this astounding clip from the science documentary series, Connections.

This is how I do my blue-sky thinking every day...

Every day before work (apart from when there is snow or heavy frost on the ground), I cycle 3 ½ miles around the local narrow country lanes on my old mountain bike to keep fit, clear my head and do some blue-sky thinking for my animated video projects.

Norfolk is quite flat but the local hill near me called How Hill is enough of a challenge to make me work hard to ride up... and then belt down again at a nose bleeding, teeth chattering 35mph!

Where do you do your blue-sky thinking?

April 28th is World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Having supported the health and safety industry in the UK for over 24 years, i-presentations created this short video to support the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Life for employees, the self-employed and employers would be very different without the health and safety legislation and effective PPE we take for granted!

Effective workplace health and safety means anyone going to work should expect to come home again in one piece... perhaps a bit more tired than when they started their day... but most importantly, without any injuries or ill-health as a result of their work!

So, spare a thought for workers in countries where health and safety legislation and its enforcement is inadequate... leading to increased rates of injury, illness, and death.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work, observed annually on April 28th, is a global campaign that seeks to promote safe, healthy, and decent work for all workers. The day aims to raise awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health, and to encourage governments, employers, workers, and other stakeholders to take action to improve workplace safety and health.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work also serves as a day of remembrance for workers who have been injured or killed on the job. It provides an opportunity to pay tribute to these workers and to renew the commitment to prevent future workplace accidents and illnesses.

The day is organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), which is a specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes social justice and decent working conditions worldwide. The ILO works with governments, employers, workers, and other stakeholders to develop and promote occupational safety and health policies and programs that protect workers and improve workplace conditions.

For World Malaria Day, i-presentations created this animated video to introduce 10 facts about the transmission of malaria and the people affected by it.

World Malaria Day is an annual observance that takes place on April 25th and was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2007 to raise awareness about the impact of malaria and to mobilize action to control the disease.

World Malaria Day provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and organizations to promote and support efforts to prevent and control malaria. The day also serves as a reminder that malaria is a preventable and treatable disease, and that global efforts to combat the disease have been successful in reducing the number of malaria cases and deaths.

i-presentations is proud to have worked with a number of UK and international organisations for more than a decade to help explain through animated videos, the problems being encountered, the major advances in tackling the spread of malaria and the work being done to eradicate it.

I was sitting in the studio, thinking what on earth could I do for this year's Christmas video...
Well, another year on... and there are yet more challenges compared to this time last year! So I thought I would showcase our Animated character videos.

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and hopefully a fantastic healthy and peaceful 2023.

Jingle Bells The sequel! (With sound)
I was sitting in the studio trying to think of ideas for this year's Christmas video. Would it be a carrot animation? Something with a cute pig perhaps? Or a story about a visiting alien? Nah Pic'N'Text it had to be...

How do you get your video noticed on social media? What is the attention span of a goldfish?

This video grabs attention and gets important messages across in just over 30 seconds.

If you want a video like this please get in touch here https://www.i-presentations.co.uk/contact

We're all bombarded with videos and messages on the internet and to promote a business or service you will need to do something a bit different to get picked up. On a website you have around 3 seconds to get attention and for social media your video really needs to stand out from the crowd.

About this video: It uses the AIDA model... Attention, Interest, Desire, Action, with some amusing visuals to keep interest along the way! The techniques used are animated kinetic text and animated photographs with a number of special effects and careful editing.

A-ha... How to get your business noticed with a short animated video!

If you can't get in front of clients even via Zoom, use a short video instead. A well structured short explainer video will often be the equivalent of up to an hour face to face trying to explain the features and benefits of your product or service. So less is more for everyone!

This video shows some of the eye-catching animated video styles i-presentations can create to help generate interest in your business. This summer Rotoscope style video effects have been added to the mix which have a similar style to the effects used in the famous hand drawn A-ha "Take on me" video in the 1980s... how cool is that!

Remember, short videos like this can be used in numerous ways... on your website, in social media, in emails, at exhibitions and embedded in presentations.

Bish bash bosh… Who says effective marketing videos need to be dull and boring?

I was let completely off the leash again! Just created this SpeedDraw hand-drawn video for Big Wipes. Big Wipes are amazing industrial hand wipes which remove all sorts of industrial nasties including PU foam and silicone off hands, tools and surfaces… Tradespeople love ‘em.

So the brief was to create a short (around 1 minute), lively and amusing video packed with scenarios and key USPs to appeal to their customer base.
