The Hampshire Naval Collection covers the Royal Navy and all aspects of British naval history including the Merchant Navy during wartime. A substantial amount of material reflects the strong links between Hampshire, particularly Gosport, and the Navy. Past and present connections to the town are represented by sections on submarines, naval medicine, ordnance and naval aviation. A wide range of available resources include:
A complete set of Admiralty Charts for the waters surrounding the United Kingdom. A Chart finder index has been created to enable searches for locations by name. Navy Lists (for Officers' service details) dating from 1766 - present day (Please note: this is NOT a complete run)
Unique Gosport editions of the Hampshire Telegraph and Naval Chronicle from 1939-1956, professionally conserved and bound. An incomplete but good coverage run of Jane's Fighting Ships including early editions from 1898 and 1905/06 onwards with the middle and later part of the 20th century. Multi-volumes set of the Navy Records Society are available for reference use
Newly acquired searchable CD-ROMS of Ayshford's Complete Trafalgar Roll and the Complete Navy List of the Napoleonic War are available for use on the dedicated Naval Collection PC
