TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED FOR SALES OF NEWBORN TWINS

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Ujunwa Una 'f' and Chinelo Igbechionwu 'f' for conspiracy and child sales.

The suspects were arrested by patrol officers from Ojodu Division stationed at Berger bus-stop, an entry point into Lagos State, whom had earlier been alerted about the suspects by a Good Samaritan. The suspects were found with two newborn baby girls, approximately six-days old, while traveling from Abia State on September 9, 2024.

Investigations revealed that the suspects were en route to deliver the babies to one nurse in Lagos State whom the mother of the babies promised to link them up with only after they had arrived Lagos.

Nigerian brothers, Samuel Ogoshi, 24, and Samson Ogoshi, 21, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in the United States for their role in a s+xtortion scheme that tragically claimed the life of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay from Michigan.

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten also ordered that the convicts will undergo five years of supervised release after they served their time.

On March 25, 2022, 17-year-old high school student, Jordan DeMay, from Marquette, Michigan, di3d as a result of this s+xtortion scheme, which targeted over 100 other victims, as well.

Speaking at the sentencing, U.S. Attorney Mark Totten said: “Today’s sentencing of Samuel and Samson Ogoshi sends a thundering message to crim+nals who commit these schemes: you are not immune from justice.

We will track you down and hold you accountable, even if we have to go half-way around the world to do so. The day when you could commit these crimes, rake in easy cash, d£§troy lives, and escape justice is gone.

The Federal Government says it will take action to close down filling stations that are charging N1,000 per litre for petrol.

As Nigerians express their worries regarding the rising prices set by independent petrol vendors, the Federal Government has pledged to close down any filling stations found charging excessively for PMS.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority expressed this concern, emphasizing that it is not beneficial for Nigerians if marketers engage in price gouging during the sale of PMS.

Independent oil marketers have reported that they have been purchasing petrol from private depot owners at rates as high as N850 per litre since last week. They attribute the rising pump prices to this increase in their acquisition costs.

The NMDPRA spokesperson, George Ene-Ita, highlighted that the petrol price information received from their officials at the depots does not align with the reports being circulated.
