Every year, the race is on to grab that coveted "Christmas Number One" spot on the UK charts - but what about the tracks that didn't quite make it?

Many a crackin' tune was held off the top spot by a chintzy festive ditty over the years and this Saturday night, in a Dancefloor Decades Special, Steve Keys will be looking at some of the greatest Christmas Number TWOs from the past 70 years

Some of them indeed did go on to be chart toppers - and rightly so - but on the big day itself these were the tracks stuck at Number 2.

Join Steve LIVE from 7pm this Saturday for the last Dancefloor Decades before the big day arrives, and celebrate those wonderful Christmas Number Twos.

Hello Friday! The best night of the week is here again, so leave the cares of this week behind and join John Gelson for two hours of magical music and memories tonight from 7, only on MLR - Memory Lane Radio!

On tonight's show, the tree is now up, with lights but no decorations yet (a little job for this wet 'n' wild weekend) - Mr and Mrs G have a few vintage tree baubles which reappear every year, while John's mother keeps hers in a beautiful 1940s 'Jack Frost' cracker box!

So we're asking you - tell us about the treasured ornament you hang on your Christmas tree ... why is it so special to you?

Click 'comment' below to let us know!

All your favourite features will be here, including our oft celebrated 'Three After Tea' - three relaxing songs chosen by a Memory Lane Radio listener just like you.

Listen from 7 tonight online at memorylaneradio.co.uk, via the MyTuner Radio app on your mobile device, smart TV or in the car - or just ask Alexa to 'play Memory Lane Radio skill'!
