A meeting has been held with Severn Trent and Powys County Council to discuss the issues of surface water entering the Vacuum Sewer system down Canal Road – the problem seems to be getting worse as the winters are getting wetter. We were pleased that the North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Officer also met with us as the surface water needs to flow into the attenuation ponds on Canal Road. Several manholes were lifted in an attempt to work out exactly where each drain fed into. Powys County Council have agreed to use a jetter to clear one section of pipe which should help with the problem and Severn Trent are relining the manhole covers to try and prevent the surface water from entering the sewer system.

We are still chasing Powys County Council Highways to evaluate how much the work will cost to improve the drainage at the entrance to the School/Village Centre and also by Domgay Chapel – the rain of the 16th October has led to a backlog of extra work.

The next phase of the dredging of the Canal has now started – Councillors had noted that the lorries carrying the large barges used for the dredging plus the large crane have led to cracking of Pontyperson Lane – this will be brought to the attention of the Canal & River Trust and also the Highways Inspector.
If you have any concerns or complaints please contact the Clerk – copies of Minutes and current Planning Application notices can be viewed online at www.llandysilio-council.org.uk

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Open Afternoon organised by the Four Crosses Village Centre – it was good to see 6 Businesses represented and 8 organisations. A lot of people came through the doors – it was good to see our Chairman, Cllr Dave Harris having a go on the N.I.B’s Electric bike to see how lights he could light up!

A meeting with Senior Highways officials took place on Friday 27th September to look at the outstanding issues of flooding at the entrance to the School/Village Centre, water standing by Domgay Chapel, flooding at Pentreheylin and the untidy verge at the entrance to Foxen Manor. They have promised to carry out evaluations and cost the work needed so it can be ranked and hopefully included in the capital Projects.

It is really disheartening to see how some visitors treat our Sports and Recreation Field – what message is this sending to the youngsters who use this pitch to play on?
There is no excuse as there are 3 bins on the Sports & Recreation Field where these dog poo bags should have been left – could they really not be bothered to have to walk 10 yards?
Please remind anyone who you see not picking up after their dog or leaving the bags for someone else to dispose of, of their responsibility not only as dog owners but as human beings.
The Community Council may have to decide that they have no option but to fence off the Public Footpath so that the pitch can become dog and faeces free. ;-(

A meeting has been arranged with Severn Trent to discuss the Sewage capacity of the Village and how the new developments will be linked into the existing vacuum system. Councillors are concerned that residents along Canal Road experience severe problems with sewage backing up every time there is heavy rainfall and would like to make certain that the new development will not make that existing problem worse.

Reminder that Tennis Coaching for children aged between 5 and 16 years old has been organised at Foxen Manor Sports & Recreation Field between 9.30 a.m and 11.30 a.m on Friday 16th August and Friday 23rd August 2023.
There is no charge and tennis racquets are provided so please come along.
This Year we are also organising a non-sporting activity for the Children with a Craft Day in how to make Salt Dough in Four Crosses Village Centre on Tuesday 20th August from 10 – 12 noon. –this activity is open to adults and children so why not come along and have a go.
To reserve a place for either of these events please ring or email Carol (Clerk)

The Community Council are continuing to press Powys County Council to release land which could be used as Allotments – many residents have come forward to express an interest and others have come forward willing to help set up an Allotment association but land is needed first!

Councillors have noted that this year there have been no cygnets on the Canal – this will be passed on to the Canal & River Trust as there is concern that this is a result of the dredging work that took place.

Clerk will be contacting the Llanfyllin Practice Manager to ask her to explain the procedure for patients in Four Crosses who cannot use the online option to order repeat prescriptions.

This is a damaged cone that had been left in the grass verge and over grown by grass down rhos common and people seem to think it’s a bin for dog poo bags . A local resident got rid of the bags to find the next day more had been put in it. dump it!
Did you know that you can dispose of your dog poo bags in ANY bin that is not a recycling bin. It doesn't have to be specifically for dog poo.
Don't be the irresponsible owner, just scoop the p**p and dispose of it properly! You have already done the hard part of bagging it.
• Dog owners - plenty of bins on foxen manor, by the vets, Morrisons or llandrinio playing field or Lewis garage This is not a bin! Thank you.
