A particularly productive weekend of upside down sportspersons of the week. Fort FC Reserves v Portree Juniors on Friday night in the Ross Cup semi final. Two well matched teams with Fort taking victory as the second half wore on. Glengarry Shinty Club v Kilmory Camanachd in the Single Team Cup Final. Another match where the teams were so well matched that the game ended 2-2 ) all scored in quick succession, yo-yo-ing from one side to the other. Glengarry came out of top at the end of extra time. Well done to all four teams who also provided many spills as well as thrills.

A veritable massive falling over of upside down sportspersons of the week. There haven't been too may for a while, but Fort FC Reserves v Kyleakin and of course the hard fought Kilmallie v Fort derby for a place in the Balliemore Cup final supplied lots of non-vertical action shots. Thanks to all involved!!

Another of nature's wonders. In Primary 3 my teacher (also a farmer's wife) said "Red Sky at night, Shepherd's delight' meaning that it wouldn't rain until morning so the sheep would have a dry night in the fields. Well it was pouring when I took this, so saying maybe needs a bit of adjustment!!

Came across this little friend today when walking on Camaghael. Not even on black and white film, but definitely a black and white bee having brunch on a bramble flower. I myself have never seen one before, but isn't it amazing what you can see when the sun comes out?

My Nikon F2 bought new today in 1976 for £258.49 at Gratispool in Glasgow. I was working for The Falkirk Herald, which was the largest regional newspaper in Scotland, but they only supplied a Rolleiflex TLR which was used for everything (even football and sports coverage). I already used my Nikkormat Ftn(n) (now 50 years old) for work and after saving up bought the F2 Photomic. It has travelled the world with me and has never failed to provide top quality results whenever the subject. It still works perfectly and even in 1996 gave the Daily Express a front page picture of the Queen Mother wiping a tear from her eye, beating the London pack (all autofocus by then) who followed her doggedly wherever she went. My absolute favourite camera, a bit battered and never once serviced or repaired. Still in use and also very occasionally for work. Nikon - a brand like no other!

What a tremendous turnout for the Fraser MacPhee Memorial Shinty Tournament. Many have travelled quite a distance to take part. Well done to Rosemary and the family for giving this opportunity to primary school age players every year.

A day away at the Nikon Pro Road Show held in this fabulous Edinburgh location. Great range of products on display and some very cool shades for everyone who attended. Despite predictions of heavy rain which mean I was overheating in my heavy waterproof jacket it was actually amazing weather (as you can see). Thanks to Ron MacNeice ands the Nikon team for all their hard work and enthusiasm in making it such as success.

Very sad to hear of the death of the great Fergie MacDonald today. I have been photographing him now for over 20 years and every time an adventure. From his phone call saying (after a few starts) "Hello, Iain, it's Fergie....." to hearing what he was up to and meeting up to either capture his image or help in his research of something. Always fun and a laugh. An amazing character. This classic from 2003 in his Black House museum.

What a fantastic night at the Fort William F.C. (Official) awards evening. A special thanks to you for inviting me and for the kind words about my work. Rain, snow, frost, wind and even occasional sunshine, it is always a genuine pleasure to meet up with you all and photograph your games. Top people, top Club.

It may be called 'The Beautiful Game' but at Claggan Park, The Home of Fort William FC, the surroundings always outdo the action, however 'beautiful' or skilful. 2-0 win against Inverness Athletic FC today.
