Look at our pumpkins!
First time growing them , I have one for each of the children so perfect !
They are a bit smaller than they look lol
There's still one growing on the vine , but it looks completely different to theese ones even though it's from the same plant π
When we cut them up to decorate I will make soup and save the seeds to roast βΊοΈ
Do you do anything with the insides of your pumpkins ?
Have you grown any this year ?

I've been making a start on collecting my seeds up from around the garden β€οΈ
I'm hoping to use some myself for next year's garden , maybe use some in cooking and I hope to sell some .
Even if your not collecting them ..it's a good idea when ever you see a flower fading go ahead and pick it off and sprinkle it back in the earth either by the plant or in another spot. .
Dead heading like this often encourages the plant to send up more flowers and also if any seeds has started to produce your putting them back in the ground so they will grow up whole new plants .
If collecting for yourself, you need to dry them out . So mine are now in their tubs , lids off in the green house untill they are ready to put in paper envelopes to store for next year !
*Some seed pods explode when dry so they need keeping in an envelope so you don't loose them but I haven't got to those ones yet .. are a good example π
Here I have

* Plantain plant or w**d *
I reached for this fab wild flower as I'd been bitten by something in my wrist and it has slightly swollen, so I made a plantain plaster , crunch up a few leaves and place on effected area .. it seems to ' dry/ draw out ' the inflammation
The many benefits of plantain leaf extend to your liver and digestive system. It can help with poor digestion by stimulating your liver and assists the liver in getting toxins out of your body. The anti-inflammatory and demulcent properties of plantain make it very soothing for your digestive tract.
So I'll have a green tea while we're at πβ₯οΈ

I copy and pasted this info as I only found this out recently and I have tried it myself and it really does taste and smell fruity like a pineapple ! I haven't tried it in a tea yet but I will β₯οΈ
Pineapplew**d, growing in abundance at the side of a track. This is often where you will find this plant, also known as wild chamomile.
For scents, this is one of my favourites, for when you rub the flower heads between your fingers they do actually smell of pineapple.
The flower heads look like daisies, but without the white petals, and indeed this plant is a relative of the daisy and of chamomile.
It shares their qualities of being a sedative, able to aid sleep, and to calm anxiety and lower οΏΌstress levels.οΏΌ
Pineapple w**d, is also antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory, and can help with internal cramping of the stomach and with menstrual cramps. You can eat the plant but also take it in a tea which has a flavoursome taste to it.
Make sure you pick the plant away from where it may have been tread upon, and only gather what you need.οΏΌ
Matricaria, the Latin name for Pineapplew**d, literally means Mother care, and this is a caring plant, one that may often be overlooked, but who is wise in her strength and in her healing.οΏΌοΏΌ

I love sunflowers !
Theese ones self seeded all throughout our back border on the left and are the first ones to bloom π
I love how unique each one is and could easily spend far too much time staring in at the different patterns in the centre
I always get a huge amount of seeds when we harvest as you can imagine ,
so we save some to
π» Sow next year
π» Feed to the birds
π» Eat for ourselves
π» Sell
We would love to see your sunflowers !
Please share some pics in the comments below π π

came about because while tending to our gardens and harvesting the seeds from our plants we end up with far more than we can use .
So we thought we would create a page to share with you our gardens , our seeds and all our top tips and tricks we have learnt along the way .
My aim with my own space is to provide colourful surroundings that is peaceful yet buzzing with activity !
I'm after a food forest π
I want edible produce to share with my family and friends and to encourage healthier eating habits for my little ones. ( And myself π«£π)
Not only is it a fun activity to do with the kids , a great way to de-stress and exercise, it's better for your purse and the planet .
Do we really need to be spending so much money on veg grown abroad ?
With nasty chemicals to keep this produce 'fresh' when it was picked weeks ago ? Then flown over to sit for however long before we buy it in the supermarket?
To then forget it's in the fridge , to throw it out before buying more in the next big shop....
Wasting money and food !
NO !
Not when it's this easy and much tastier when you do it yourself.
We will show you how !
Pic of a cute baby cucumber I came across this morning π

#ukgardens #sunflowers #homeharvesting .WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR SUNFLOWERS ? #homedecor #sowlovely #forestgardening #ukgardens #wildlife #wildlifegarden I dry some seed heads out to use next year . You could feed the birds , Use in home cooking and grow micro greens ! You could share with friends , family or schools ! I've fed all the greens and the odd flowers without seeds to the rabbits , ( sunflower seeds arnt great for rabbits I've heard ) The stalks I'll dry out and feed to rabbits as and when and ghe largest one I'll dry out and use either as support for a plant next year or as a chew treat for the rabbits .. we will see β₯οΈ Any half decent flowers are coming indoors in a vase β€οΈ #Microgreens #microgreensfarmer Part one ! Video was too long lol
Take a wander through my garden with me π I've got so much going on within , it's abit chaotic , much more than meets the eye ... You really need a bit of time to have a good old mooch . There's trees , shrubs , little ponds , flowers , stumperys and rocky areas . It used to be all lawn , I'm slowly working my way to building a garden that's pleasing to my eye , great for wildlife and insects but also highly edible for us too. But in this video I'm giving you a quick glance to what's going on, looking for the pops of colour from the flowers. Some things have gone over now so I've been collecting lots of seeds so let me know if there's anything you see you'd like to try and grow in your garden β₯οΈ #SowLovely #ukgardens #southuk #forestgardening

Ahhh I was so excited to harvest theese bad boys for dinner tonight ! So my method here was the compost bag method . Empty compost bag , add some holes for drainage Roll top of bag all the way down to create a small bucket / bag Add some soil Pop your seed potatoes in and add a little more soil . Water well Water daily! ( I didn't do to good here and this is why my crop was cr*p , hindsight and all that π«£π) As the plant grows taller add more soil to cover nearly all of the green growth and start to un curl the edges of the bag. As the weeks pass by and the plant grows fuller you will eventually have uncurled the whole bag. Pros Space saving Cons ( that I found ) I found rotten potatoes at the bottom of the bag , could be due no good drainage ? . Not many potatoes , Could be to the water not getting to centre of bag , Not watering as often as I should be . .. I think it was down to irregular watering tbh ... Gutted .. will do better next time β€οΈ There is another patch of potatoes that just seemed to grow themselves out of no where and I've done a different method there using straw and building a wire cage around it , but I will start watering theese ones π«£ #ukhomesteads #ukediblegarden #UK-Gardens.co.uk #ukhomegrownfood
