Stavros started off on three legs with quite a wobble. As his first week has progressed he has managed to adapt to three legs really well. Still trying to get him to venture around the whole garden.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments on Stumpy’s final video. I cannot believe the response I had. It was very overwhelming.
Today is the start of a new chapter. Here is Stavros. These are the very first moments he ventured out in to the garden.
It is with great sadness that I have to post Stumpy’s last video as sadly I had to take him to the vets on Wednesday after noticing a swelling on his back leg, which sadly turned out to be an aggressive cancerous tumour which had eaten in to his leg bone. The cancer had also looked to have spread to his lungs. I would to thank Companion care (Park Gate) for their continued support over the last three years, to whom Stumpy owed his extra three years of life.
Happy Easter from Stumpy. He is alive and well. Stumpy has just come back from a two night stay at the vets. He has had a full checkup and mot. He came back all fresh and ready to start exploring the garden fully again. Stumpy didn’t fully hibernate this year. Just coming out once a night for a snack and a drink. No roaming of the garden at all. A big thankyou to Companion Care(Park Gate).
Stumpy is still coming out every night for a snack and a drink.
It must be that time of year. Time for Stumpy’s Christmas video. Have a Merry Christmas.
A surprise visitor on the camera last night. Stumpy interrupted his hibernation for a quick visit for a snack and a drink.
Stumpy braves the wind and rain for an early evening snack. He waited ages before making the run back to under the greenhouse.
Still seeing Stumpy around the garden every night. Empty bowl every morning.
Stumpy’s really getting close to hibernating now. Just coming out a couple of times each night to forage and empty his food bowl. Unfortunately not interested in his brand new hog house!
Stumpy did this last year and the year before. He eases himself into hibernation, by gradually extending his nights asleep. Usually over a month before finally taking the plunge to fully hibernate. He has been out for five consecutive nights now.
No sign of Stumpy for the last three nights. It looks like he may have decided to begin his hibernation under the greenhouse. Sleep tight Stumpy, see you in the Spring.
