The Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road is set to be moved from Saturday 26th to Sunday 27th October. This is to allow Hearts recovery time from their Conference League match against Omonia Nicosia at Tynecastle on the Thursday 24th.

Goal of the season already?

96 mins
Full Time
Kilmarnock 1-1 Hibernian
Well if you wondered before the match how good we are, then the answer is we are the equal of the bottom team in the league. We needed to kill the game with a second goal, but instead the defence pressed the self destruct button at the end. At 1-0 we never really looked in control, and Killie always looked worthy of a point. We did have a few opportunistic chances, but no great creative moves, no periods of control, and certainly no domination. Strangely we move up to 9th in the table one point above Hearts and Killie .

Obita makes a stupidly clumsy challenge in the box.
Penalty Killie.
Looks like Hibs press the self destruct button again.

Kilmarnock 1-1 Hibernian

01/09/2024

71 mins
Kille have a shot on goal, Bursik is beaten, but the ball hits the inside of the post and comes out.
73 mins
Kuharevich (booked) is replaced with Bowie.
Chris Cadden replaces Boyle.

01/09/2024

68 mins
Nectarios Triantis dribbles through the entire Kille defence, going past four players, unleashes a shot, and it hits the underside of the bar, and comes back out. Encouraging stuffšŸ‘

01/09/2024

61 mins
Nicky Cadden replaces Rudi Molotnikov.
Difficult game for Rudi ( and every other Hibs player), but fresh legs might be useful

49 mins
Kilmarnock 0-1 Hibernian
A short corner comes to Joe Newell , outside the side of the box.
He curls the ball high to the far side of the goal, and it floats into the net.
Lovely skill Joe.

01/09/2024

Half Time
Kilmarnock 0-0 Hibernian
Scrappy game. Neither team in control, as both struggle to dominate the pitch, let alone the opposition.
Positives, after 30 scrappy minutes, Hibs have settled and created a few chances. Kuharevich was very unlucky not to score.
Killie unlucky that Vassel didnā€™t score, but other than that Bursik has not had any saves to make.

01/09/2024

41 mins
Kuharevich has the ball in the centre circle.
He sees the keeper off the line and tries to chip him.
Itā€™s on target.
Keeper backpedals fast and somehow gets far enough back to tip the ball over the bar.
Incredibly opportunistic skills from Kuharevich, could have been goal of the season.

01/09/2024

33 mins
Kuharevich fouled on edge of the box.
Boyle drive the ball low, expecting the wall to jump.
But the wall doesnā€™t jump, and itā€™s straight into the wall.
Nice idea.

01/09/2024

28 mins
Great shot from Kwon Hyeok-Kyu, but the keeper tips it past for a corner.
Close from Hibs
Very scrappy game on a pitch that is like a kids soft play park.
0-0

01/09/2024

15 minutes
Several free kicks given away just ouside Hibs penalty area, fortunately all hit into the wall. Ekpiteta not having a good game, conceding fouls, lack of ball control, passing to Kille. Apart from that heā€™s okayšŸ™„

01/09/2024

10 mins
Let off for Hibs. Corner for Killie squared across the goal. Vassel gets it at the back post and chips it across the goal line, into the arms of Bursik. It would have been easier to score.
0-0

Still no start for our major signings
Bowie, Hoilett, Iredaleā€¦ā€¦
Triantis straight into the team that heā€™s not even trained with.
I hope Gray knows what heā€™s doing. Time will tell.

One change for Hibs as Triantis is set for his second Hibernian debut! šŸ„¬

Last minute deal!
Hibs have completed the signing of Bolton defender Jack Iredale for an undisclosed fee. Transfermrket suggests he is valued at ā‚¬300K (Ā£250K)
The 28-year-old Australian/Scot has signed a two-year deal at Easter Road. He has been signed as a central defender but is comfortable at both centre-half and left-back.
Sounds like good news, in a much needed area.

The terms of the permanent transfer will remain undisclosed.

30/08/2024

Well thatā€™s it.
Malky and SDG will be down the pub congratulating each other on their successes in the transfer window. Kensell and the Gordonā€™s sipping their champers at all the money they saved.

Hibernian transfer (in) Summer 2024

Keiron Bowie - Fulham, Ā£600K
Jack Iredale - Bolton, undisclosed fee
Junior Hoilett - Free agent
Nicky Cadden - Free agent
Warren O'Hora - MK Dons, Free agent
Marvin Ekpiteta - Blackpool, Free agent
Jordan Smith - Free agent
Josef Bursik - Club Brugges, loan
Mykola Kuharevich - Swansea, loan.
Hyeokkyu Kwon - Celtic, loan
Nectarios Triantis - Sunderland, loan

Are we any stronger in any area compared to last season?
Probably the strikers.
The best break we got in the transfer window was Elie Youanā€™s injury. (Sorry Elie). It means we hold onto Elie until January at least.

Dundee have accepted a Ā£1m bid from Celtic for captain Luke McCowan.
The clubs are now working to finalise the paperwork ahead of the 11pm deadline.

30 minutes to deliver plan B, Mr Mackay.

30/08/2024

40 minutes until the transfer window
Not sure if itā€™s an English thing or Europe wide, but clubs can submit a deal sheet in order to gain extra time to complete a transfer
If submitted between 9pm and 11pm, a completed deal sheet provides clubs with an extra two hours to conclude proposed moves.

Tick Tock Tick Tock
1 hour remaining
Celtic are closing in on a Deadline Day move for Dundee captain Luke McCowan. Sky Sports News understands the clubs are finalising a deal for the 26-year-old.

It looks like Nectarios Triantis (loan) is the big signing we have waited two months for šŸ™„

30/08/2024

Iā€™m reading that Nectar Triantis (Sunderland) has agreed terms on a return to Hibs, Nectarios came in as a centre half but also played as defensive midfielder under Montgomery. He will have a second loan stint confirmed before tonightā€™s 11 pm deadline.
Iā€™m trying to feel positive about this oneā€¦ help me!

30/08/2024

Hibernian midfielder Allan DelferriĆØre has joined Racing Union LĆ«tzebuerg on loan for the duration of the 2024/25 campaign.
Including loans, DelferriĆØre becomes the 22nd Hibs player to leave the club this transfer window. Meanwhile, including loans, only 9 have come into the club.
But there is still about 100 minutes until the window closes ā³

Dundee reject Hibs' McGowan bid as Celtic consider offer
Dundee have rejected a bid of around Ā£800,000 from Hibernian for captain Luke McCowan.
Put in a sensible bid Hibs. Whatā€™s the worst that can happen.?
(a) we get McCowan
(b) Celtic have to pay more

30/08/2024

Friday 18.00
Hibernian have made an improved fourth bid for Dundee captain Luke McCowan. The figure is in excess of Ā£750,000 which would be a record transfer fee for the club. Hibsā€™ offer is now under consideration by Dundee.

But Celtic are also considering making an official bid for the Dundee captain.

30/08/2024

17.30 Friday

Jair Tavares has joined Motherwell on a season-long loan. He has made 42 appearances for 4 different managers since joining Hibs in 2022

And Celtic have made an official approach for Dundee captain Luke McCowan. As we all saw this happening two months ago, can we assume that Mackay and Gray have a plan B to execute in the next 5 hours?

30/08/2024

Friday 16.03

Celtic are in pursuit of another (!) midfielder before tonightā€™s deadline. They are working on potential deals with several targets.

Latest from Sky Sports News say "Celtic are also exploring a loan deal for West Ham midfielder Andy Irving. However, itā€™s understood the Hammers are not keen to let the 24-year-old go in this window. The Hoops have had a longstanding interest in Dundee midfielder Luke McCowan and could make a move before 11pm.

Both McCowan and Irivng would be classed as homegrown for the Champions League criteria. McCowan seems to be LAST CHOICE for Celtic, having signed at least 3 midfielders already, so it looks like going down to the wire and he may just end up warming the bench at Celtic.

ā°Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock...
7 hours left in the Transfer Window
Nobody through the IN indoor.
But Kilmarnock and Motherwell are both interested in signing Jair Tavares on a season-long loan from Hibs. Jair has yet to feature in the SPFL league this season. As one of the lowest paid squad members it not a lot off the wage bill but might sharpen up his game.

29/08/2024

Tick tock...tick tock....
As the transfer window enters its final 36 hours, Hibs have brought in 9 new players at a total cost of Ā£600K. So much for competing with Celtic and Rangers!
Latest update is
Nisbet signed for Aberdeen at the weekend
Hodge has signed for Huddersfield today
Bevan is injured (again) and is no longer a target
The Luke McCowan saga trundles on.

C'mon Hibs, some of the signings raised eyebrows before the window opened, (you know who I mean), and then a procession of unknowns from league 1 and 2 in England. This is cheap business, not quality solutions. Call me impatient, but so far only Kuharevich and Bowie seem to be an improvement on what we had. We can say its early days, but we've shipped 8 goals in three league games and crashed out of the League Cup in August. Against Premier opposition we have won only 1 game in 8 in the four months since the beginning of May.

We have major problems and there are 36 hours left to pull some rabbits out of the hat. Can last minute Hibs do it again?
