The new year is a great time to examine your social media channels and a fresh pair of eyes over your accounts can throw up some really interesting thoughts!

🤔What is a social media audit?

A social media audit is perfect for you if you've been doing your own socials for a while, or just starting out. I take an in-depth look at your accounts and produce a detailed report for you, packed with feedback, recommendations and advice tailored to your business/charity.

If you’re scrolling through Reels and you see one you like, some of them have “Use Template” on them (see image).

If you click that, it will allow you to select your own images/videos and it will create the Reel for you in seconds!

📣 Has Instagram asked you to enter your date of birth?

😱 I'm seeing SO many horror stories of people entering random dates of birth (or their business start date) when asked by Instagram, then getting locked out their accounts and having them deleted. Especially when accidentally putting an age too young for Instagram!

If you get the pop up next time you log in, please ensure as the business owner you put in YOUR own date of birth and not the date the business started.

I’m taking the next week off social media to spend some much-needed time relaxing with my beautiful family. 🥰

It’s so important to take a break from your business (and especially social media!) and I know I’ll return with a renewed enthusiasm!

Have I spent the last 2 weeks scheduling posts like mad? Yes I have! 🤣 (But for my clients, not me)

📱 Social media can be completely all consuming at times, can’t it? Imagine it was your full time job!

I came across this article in a third sector comms group I’m in and it really struck a chord with me, particularly given my work with charities and mental health (through my husband Scott Newby and his work with NewbyCore - Experts in Mental Health at Work)

🥶 Brrrr it is cold out there this morning here in but the sun is now out!

Having a cuppa to warm up and looking at 3 things I am working on today:

✅ Finishing an online ‘LinkedIn for Beginners’ course for a lovely client.

✅ Working on a new fundraising appeal for one of my charity clients. Launching in March - I will share it when it’s live as it’s amazing ✨.

✅ Scheduling social media posts for my SMM clients for the weekend and week ahead.

Oh and I must remember to do all my school PTA actions! 🤪🤣

I’ve been very quiet on here recently as I’ve been busy looking after all my lovely clients social media profiles! Their profiles look great…mine, not so much! 🤣

I’ve also been having a nice slow start to the year, getting all my family and life admin in order. No crazy gym new year resolutions here!

Something I get asked about regularly is 'can I create a logo myself in Canva?'

My advice is always to get a trained graphic designer to design your business logo. Yes, it might cost you a few pounds, but they will design you something bespoke, they will provide you with all the hi-res versions of the logo you will ever need and you won't run into licensing issues down the line.

🧐 INSTAGRAM SEARCH 🧐

Here are a few best practices that you can use to help show up in search results on Instagram:

✅ Use a fitting handle and profile name. Search results are matched by text. Using an Instagram handle or profile name that’s related to the content of your posts is your best bet for showing up in relevant searches. If your friends or fans know you by a certain name, include that name in your username or profile so that you can show up when they search for you.

✅ Include relevant keywords and locations in your bio. Same principle here. Make sure your bio includes keywords about who you are and what your profile is about. If your account is location-specific, like for a small business, sharing your location in your bio can make it easier for people in your area to find you.

✅ Use relevant keywords and hashtags in captions. For a post to be found in Search, put keywords and hashtags in the caption, not the comments.
