Holly Winterburn downs a three with 15 secs left and then a steal from MVP Karlie Samuelson.

Chema Bu**ta is out as Great Britain women’s coach “by mutual consent” after eight years.

Had spoken only a few weeks ago about next year’s plans so very unexpected.

Great Britain crush Estonia 83-45 to move 2nd in EuroBasket Women 2025 qualifying group D.

The magnificent Temi Fagbenle with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, Savannah Wilkinson adding 17.

Standings: 1. Sweden (2-0), 2. Great Britain (1-1), 3. Denmark (1-1), 4. Estonia (0-2)

“I am happy with the performance of the team because after losing against Sweden this game was very important,” said GB head coach Chema Bu**ta.

“Not only to win because that was the priority but also to get the best winning score possible. I think we played a lot as a team today with very good defence, I think defence was key, we created many problems for Estonia on offence, and many times we were able to go on the fast break and that gave us a lot of points.”

A number of BBL clubs have signed a letter demanding the resignation of league chair, Sir Rodney Walker.

He’s been active in lobbying to keep them on side with controversial American investors 777 Partners.

But told clubs now want them - and Walker - to exit.

It runs in parallel with BBF’s investigation into BBL and its links with 777 who have faced increased scrutiny over their business practices and funding sources since launching a takeover for Everton.

Understand FIBA have agreed to underwrite costs of BBF’s enquiries.

While BBF’s investigation by definition is into the league, rather than 777 specifically, reporting elsewhere suggests a damning report would force Premier League to block Everton takeover.

Interesting wrinkle is that even if BBL finds new investors to buy out 777, they would still own London Lions.

However now hard to see EuroLeague offering them any wild card type of entry given the reputational blowback.

London Lions win the 2nd leg of their EuroLeague Women play-in 73-72 at DVTK in Hungary, going out 135-121 on aggregate.

They drop into EuroCup which could be a blessing, not a curse, with a roster genuinely capable of challenging for the title
